Rent a Car

Train

From the railway station, located inside the airport area near the Arrivals and Departures terminals, you can reach the city centre using the numerous and frequent Trenitalia connections (Tel +39 065 210 550).

Leonardo Express

Non-stop, dedicated exclusively to airport passengers to/from Roma Termini, with departures every 15 minutes and a journey time of 32 min. The service operates from Roma Termini between 5:20 am and 10:35 pm and from Fiumicino airport from 6:08 am to 11:23 pm.

Price: €14.00 (if purchased at the Trenitalia post next to the train, it costs €15.00).

Where to buy the ticket: You can buy it online, at the ticket office or at the ticket machines in the station. At Fiumicino, also at the tobacconists (tabacchi).

Validating your ticket
You must stamp your ticket before boarding the train at the machines on the platforms. If you fail to do so, the guard will consider that you do not have a ticket and you will have to pay a fine. Tickets purchased online are time and date marked and do not need to be stamped. As they are valid for 90 minutes from the time indicated, it is recommended that you purchase your ticket close to the time you board the train.

Regional line FL1

Services to/from other stations in Rome, including Rome Termini and Rome Tiburtina, with departures every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 min. on weekends and public holidays. It is not direct, but stops at all stations on the line, so the journey between the airport and Termini takes about an hour. Some stops have transfers with other train lines and the Metro.

Price: The ticket costs €8.00.

Where to buy tickets: Tickets can be bought online, at the ticket office and from ticket machines at the station. In Fiumicino, also at tobacco shops (tabacchi).

Validating your ticket

Both the tickets purchased at the ticket machines and those bought at the ticket counter do not have an exact time of use, so you have to "stamp" or "validate" the ticket. "Da convalidare" means "must be validated". There are small machines at the airport to do this.

Frecciarossa

Four high-speed trains, two arriving and two departing, connect Leonardo Da Vinci airport daily with the cities of Rome, Florence, Bologna, Padua and Venice, without intermediate train changes.

Where to wait for app vehicles?

Uber, Share Now, Enjoy and Drivalia E-Go! vehicles will wait for you on the top floor of the car park for short stays. The estimated cost of the trip between the airport and the centre of Rome is around €70.00.

Although there are issues that seem more than obvious, it is always advisable to take them into account when moving to or from the airport, and especially if we go by public transport.  1- To the airport - It is convenient to leave with a little more anticipation than what is commonly suggested. If you choose a taxi or a private car service, always take into account peak traffic times, demonstrations, strikes or events that may delay the journey to the airport from where you are. It is always good to be informed about what is happening. If you contract a shared transfer service, have a contact telephone number handy in case of any delay by the company. In these cases they usually already have a scheduled collection time. If you use public transport (collective, train) take into account the schedules (weekends and holidays tend to have less frequency), if you have to change and also how to board (if you need a card or paying the driver or motorist at the moment ). These are details that seem obvious, but it is advisable to know so as not to have surprises and suffer a delay that could cause complications. If you rent a car to get to the airport, check where to leave the vehicle. At some airports, there is an exclusive parking lot for rental cars.  2 -From the airport- Here it is a little less stressful since you don't have the pressure of missing your flight. In the worst case, you will arrive later at the place where you are going to stay or at the meeting point where you are trying to arrive. Once you leave the plane, look for your suitcase and finish with the arrival procedures that are required. Then, follow the directions for public transportation or ask the airport staff. It is very useful to find out in advance the schedules of the buses or trains in case you arrive late at night. Not all work 24 hours. The same goes for taxis. In case of using an Uber-type service, have the mobile application handy to contact the driver. On the other hand, if you booked a private transport service, it is likely that they will have a person waiting for you, identified with a sign. If you rent a car to go from the airport to your final destination, for greater peace of mind it is advisable to book it in advance. Rental counters are usually available in the arrivals hall.
