Bilbao Airport offers various transport options that efficiently connect with the city centre and other towns in Bizkaia. Below are the available services.

Private Hire Vehicles (PHV)

Services such as Uber operate within the premises. Pick-up takes place in the designated area, located in car park P1. Follow the signs from the Arrivals Hall.

You will need to download the Uber app to request your transfer and wait to be assigned a vehicle.

Urban Bus

The airport is connected with the city centre and other nearby towns by bus services. The bus stops are located on both the Arrivals and Departures levels.

Line A3247 (Bizkaibus): Connects the airport with Bilbao Termibus. It stops at key points such as Gran Vía 79, Plaza Moyúa, and Alameda Recalde 11. The journey takes around 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. Departures every 20 minutes from 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight.

Tickets are purchased directly from the driver. Payment must be made in cash with the exact amount. Check the updated fares on the official Bizkaibus website.

Interurban Bus

Lurraldebus services connect the airport with other towns in Bizkaia.

Line DO04: Provides a direct connection between Bilbao Airport and San Sebastián (Donostia), with a stop in Zarautz.

Line DG12: Connects the airport with Eibar, Bergara, and Arrasate/Mondragón.

Taxis

The taxi service is available at the rank located outside the Arrivals area of the terminal. Taxis operate 24 hours a day, offering direct and comfortable transport to Bilbao and other destinations. It is recommended to use the official airport taxis (Asociación Auto Taxis Femade).

Approximate fares:

To Bilbao (city centre): between €27.00 and €35.00, depending on the area and time (day/night or holiday tariff). The journey to the city centre usually takes around 15–20 minutes.
To San Sebastián: approximately €185.00–201.00.
To Vitoria-Gasteiz: approximately €144.00–158.00.

Fares may vary, so it is advisable to check with the driver or the information panels at the rank.

Tips for getting to and from BIO

Going to the airport

Leave earlier than you think you need to: Bilbao airport is 12 km from Bilbao. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at BIO.

Leaving the airport

After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
