Viracopos/Campinas International Airport, opened on October 19, 1960, serves the Campinas area, and given its proximity to the city of São Paulo and the investments it receives, it is expected to be the most important airport in Brazil in the coming years. Due to its surface area, it is the largest air cargo hub in South America. It operates numerous domestic flights and some international destinations in Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, France and Portugal.
