The airport connects Hanoi to over 60 international destinations through about 55 airlines. The most popular destinations include Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and Shanghai. Domestically, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route is one of the busiest in the world. Check-in counters are located on levels 2 and 3 of Terminal 2 for international flights, and on level 2 of Terminal 1 for domestic flights.

Issues to resolve with the Airline before or after the trip (Updated 2026)

Many passengers do not know who to contact or how to file a complaint when doubts or problems arise before or after a trip. Below are the key topics that should be checked, coordinated or resolved directly with the airline, ideally well in advance.
 
  Check-in process and documentation (passport validity)
 
In addition to a visa, many countries require your passport to remain valid for a minimum period (often 3 to 6 months) beyond your arrival or departure date. It is not always enough for it to be valid until your return. Confirm the requirement with the airline and the embassy of your destination country before checking in online.
  Luggage limits, prohibited items and cabin baggage rules in Europe
 
In July 2026 the EU approved a reform of air passenger rights that guarantees a free personal item (up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm) that fits under the seat. The new rules are expected to apply from 2027, and airlines can still charge for a larger overhead cabin bag. Check the baggage policy of your specific fare to avoid charges at the gate.

  Requirements for minors traveling without their parents
 
Some countries require a signed, and sometimes notarized, travel consent when a minor travels alone or with only one parent. Requirements depend on the destination and on the child's nationality. Also check whether the airline offers an "Unaccompanied Minor (UM)" service, its age limits and booking deadlines.
  Travel coordination for passengers with disabilities, reduced mobility, and pregnant women (by week)
 
Many airlines ask for a medical certificate from around the 28th week of pregnancy, and restrict travel in the final weeks. Passengers with reduced mobility should request assistance at least 48 hours in advance to ensure ground support.
  Claims for cancellations, delays or denied boarding (EU rules)
 
Under EU Regulation 261/2004, flights covered by the rule that arrive 3 hours or more late, or are cancelled at short notice, may entitle you to compensation of €250 to €600 depending on the distance, unless the airline proves extraordinary circumstances. A reform approved in July 2026 keeps these amounts and the 3-hour threshold, and adds new deadlines for claims; it is expected to apply from 2027. Keep your boarding pass, receipts and all communications with the airline.
  Traveling with pets (cabin or cargo hold) and guide dogs
 
Many airlines allow small pets in the cabin with prior booking and a fee, but spaces per flight are limited, so reserve early.
Guide or assistance dogs: they usually travel free of charge in the cabin, but you should notify the airline at least 48 hours in advance and carry the required documentation (identification, vaccination record and health certificate). Do not leave this until you are at the airport.
  Possible changes to travel dates or cancellations by the passenger (check whether your fare allows a full refund or only a voucher)
 
  Flight schedule confirmation and flight status (delays, cancellations, rescheduling)
