How connections work at BKK

The airport has 2 terminals or concourses (Main Terminal Building, Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1)).

Connecting passengers go through a transfer security screening.

Terminals / concourses: Main Terminal Building, Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1)

Getting between them: Airside Automated People Mover (APM) underground driverless train connects Main Terminal Building (Level B2) and SAT-1 (Level B2); moving walkways run through terminal concourses.

International concourses (C, D, E, F, G) and Satellite 1 (SAT-1) are airside connected, but arriving transit passengers must pass transfer security before reaching departure gates. Domestic concourses (A, B) require immigration clearance.

Airside passport control facilities operate on Level 2 (Concourse C for international-to-domestic transfers and Concourse B for domestic-to-international CIQ transfers).

  • Duty-free liquids over 100ml must stay in sealed tamper-evident bags, as all international transit passengers pass transfer security screening.
  • Allow extra time for SAT-1 satellite gates (S101–S128), accessed via the underground APM train from the Main Terminal basement (Level B2).
  • Passengers connecting between flights must arrive at the boarding gate at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled flight departure.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.

Times are estimates: always check with your airline.
