Ground transportation options

Public transportation, licensed taxis and ride-hailing apps, private transfers and car rental at Antofagasta airport (ANF), 25 km from Antofagasta. See also the airport guide for general information.

The drive between the airport and downtown Antofagasta takes about 25 to 35 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Minibuses and shared shuttles

Door-to-door and shared transfer services operate from the arrivals area exit with service desks inside the arrivals hall. Authorized companies such as Transvip and local providers offer rides to various sectors of Antofagasta (Sector Norte, Centro, Centro Sur, and Sector Sur to Llacolén Beach). Fares typically range from $8,000 to $12,000 CLP per passenger.

Ride-sharing apps

Rideshare platforms such as Uber, DiDi, and Cabify operate to and from the airport. Pick-up areas are usually located along the outer curb and marked zones in the adjacent parking lot.

Buses

There are no regular municipal bus lines entering the airport terminal. However, intercity buses bound for Mejillones or Tocopilla travel along Route 1, within walking distance of the access road.

Official taxis

Metered authorized taxis are available at the official rank outside the arrivals hall. You can also book and pay for the ride at the service counters located in the baggage claim area. The estimated fare to downtown Antofagasta ranges between $20,000 and $30,000 CLP, with a travel time of 25 to 30 minutes.

Tips for getting to and from ANF

Going to the airport

  1. Leave earlier than you think you need to: Antofagasta airport is 25 km from Antofagasta. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
  2. On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
