Tenerife South airport (TFS)

Tenerife South Airport, or Reina Sofía International Airport, was opened on October 23, 1978. Together with Tenerife North Airport, it concentrates most of the air traffic in the Canary Islands, being one of the busiest in Spain. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations within Europe and Northern Africa.

Number of Terminals - 1 - Open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. Outside these hours, only passengers are allowed access in the 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure of their flight.

The airport is situated 60 km (37.5 miles) southwest from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 10 minutes away from the tourist locations of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (10:00 am to 10:00 pm), post office, mobile phone service, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge. There are meeting rooms in the Departures area. The Sala VIP Montaña Roja lounge, situated on floor 1, in the passenger-only area, opens on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, Wednesdays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Thursdays from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, Fridays from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm, Saturdays from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm and Sundays from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm; the maximum stay is 4 hours and it provides newspapers, TV, computers, Wi-Fi, catering, air conditioning (access with Priority Pass, DragonPass or Diners Club membership, through online booking or by paying at the door - €30.86).

Food and Drinks- On the ground floor, there are bars, coffee shops, fast food outlets, ice cream stores and restaurants. There are also vending machines throughout the enclosure.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on levels 0 and 1, newsagents, books, sweets, fashion and accessories, electronics, souvenirs.
Baggage- Wrapping machines in the check-in area, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Lost and found office in front of check-in counters 26-27, available from 4:00 am to 0:00 am (e-mail: [email protected]).
Other Services- Children's play areas, prayer rooms, gas station, travel agencies, showroom, pharmacy, water fountains.

Facilities for passengers with special needs

Facilities include access ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms and telephones, and reserved parking spaces. Most air companies offer escort services for children between 5 and 12 years old travelling alone. Remember to inform your airline about your particular needs at least 48 hours in advance.
