Requirements for Hiring a Vehicle
To hire a car at Tahiti Airport, you will generally need to meet the following conditions:
- Minimum age: 21 years (some companies may require 23 or 25 years for certain vehicle categories).
- Driving licence: A valid and current driving licence issued in the country of origin. Non-resident drivers may use their foreign licence for a period of up to 12 months.
- Documentation: Passport or valid identification document and an international credit card in the name of the main driver for the security deposit.
- Insurance: Third-party liability insurance is mandatory. Additional cover (third-party damage, theft, full cover) is recommended and is usually arranged directly at the hire office.
It is recommended to book in advance, especially during the high tourist season, to ensure availability of the desired vehicle.

- Certify that you have a valid driver's license to drive in the destination country. If you are a foreigner, check if you need to validate your license in your country of origin. It should be noted that the International permit is NOT valid by itself, it must always be accompanied by the National Driver's License.
