Requirements for Hiring a Vehicle

To hire a car at Tahiti Airport, you will generally need to meet the following conditions:

  • Minimum age: 21 years (some companies may require 23 or 25 years for certain vehicle categories).
  • Driving licence: A valid and current driving licence issued in the country of origin. Non-resident drivers may use their foreign licence for a period of up to 12 months.
  • Documentation: Passport or valid identification document and an international credit card in the name of the main driver for the security deposit.

Tips for renting a car in French Polynesia

  1. Check that your driver's license is valid in French Polynesia. Some countries also ask for an International Driving Permit (IDP), which is only valid together with your national license.
