Penang International Airport, opened in 1935, is one of the busiest in Malaysia. In addition to domestic flights, it operates with major destinations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The airport is located in the town of Bayan Lepas, 16 km (10 miles) south of George Town, the state capital of Penang.
