Penang International Airport, opened in 1935, is one of the busiest in Malaysia. In addition to domestic flights, it operates with the main destinations in Southeast Asia and the Far East.

The airport is located in the city of Bayan Lepas, 16 km (10 miles) south from George Town, capital of the state of Penang.See Map
Bus - There are services from Rapid Penang (Tel +604 238 1212) to George Town that leave from the airport every 30 minutes between 5:20 am and 11:15 pm. Line 102 runs to Teluk Bahang, going through Nibong, Komtar Shopping Center, Tanjung Bungah and Batu Feringghi. Route 306 travels to Penang General Hospital, with stops at Bayan Lepas, Tingkat Paya Terubong and Air Itam. Lines 401 and 401E go to Balik Palau terminal and Weld Quay, Komtar, Jalan Teluk Kumbar and Jalan Tun Sardon. Bus 401 also runs to South Ekspres bus terminal, where you can make connections to mainland cities in Penang. Ticket counters are located on the ground floor of the Arrivals Hall and journey time to the city is approximately 50 minutes. Public buses do not pick up passengers after 10:00 pm. Taxi - Passengers must buy a voucher for a fixed price for specific destinations at the counter in the Arrivals Hall and hand it to the driver at the ranks located outside. There are surcharges for trips between 0:00 am and 6:00 am. The trip to the city centre takes around 45 minutes.
