Malé airport (MLE)

Velana International Airport, also known as Malé International Airport and opened on 19 October 1960, is the most important in the Maldives. It operates domestic and international flights to destinations in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

 Location

The airport is located on the island of Hulhulé, 3 km (1.8 miles) northeast of the city of Malé, in the North Malé Atoll.

Car rental agencies

There are no car rental desks inside the airport. Distances are short and inter-island transfers are by boat, small aircraft and seaplanes.

There is a small car park outside the terminals, but this is mainly reserved for the use of official vehicles.
