Velana International Airport, also known as Malé International Airport and opened on October 19, 1960, is the most important in Maldives. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

.There are no car rental company counters within the airport. Distances are short and transfers between islands are by speed boats or small planes
Ferry - Local boats or dhonis and speedboats provide transportation to the capital of the country in 10 minutes. They operate every 10-30 min., 24 hours a day, and also offer transfers to different resort islands in the area.

There is a small parking lot outside the terminal building, but it is mainly reserved for use by official vehicles.
Ramps, elevators and adapted toilets are available, as well as wheelchairs upon request. Inform your airline about your needs prior to your arrival.
