Can you spend the night at Liberia airport (LIR)? Find out if the airport is open 24 hours, which services and free rest areas are available, and the nearby hotels and VIP lounges.

Overnight layover guide: sleeping options in the public area and the boarding area

Please note that published services and schedules may change. If you plan to spend the night in the public area, have a plan B in case the airport only allows passengers with an upcoming flight to stay inside.

Nighttime Terminal Closure

Guanacaste Airport does not operate around the clock. The passenger terminal closes its doors overnight after the final commercial flight of the day (approximately between 20:00 and 05:00). For security and operational reasons, sleeping or staying overnight inside the building is not permitted.

Furthermore, the terminal lacks luggage storage, designated overnight rest areas, and 24-hour food or convenience outlets. Travelers departing on early morning flights or arriving late in the evening should reserve overnight accommodations at nearby hotels along Route 21 or in downtown Liberia.
