Connecting at Lima airport

Connection time calculator, immigration and security, and how to move between terminals at LIM.

How connections work at LIM

At Lima airport, passengers connecting between two international flights can usually stay in the transit area without going through immigration. If you connect from an international to a domestic flight, you enter the country here: you go through immigration and collect and re-check your bags.

The airport has 3 terminals or concourses (Domestic gates (A), Gates C, International gates (D)).

Terminals / concourses: Domestic gates (A), Gates C, International gates (D)

Getting between them: Walking inside the terminal: 10 to 20 minutes from security to the far gates

Since 1 June 2025 the new terminal handles every flight, domestic and international, in one building. International-to-international transfers stay airside; international to domestic means collecting bags, clearing immigration and customs, checking in again on level 3 and going through security.

  • International to international: stay airside, but allow at least 2 hours (3 for comfort). A transfer fee (TUUA) applies and is sometimes included in the ticket.
  • International to domestic is the slower path: allow at least 3 hours; waiting at the baggage belt is what most often ruins tight connections.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.
