Requirements to Hire a Vehicle
To hire a car at Irkutsk Airport, foreign drivers must meet the following standard requirements:
- Minimum age: Generally, drivers must be at least 21 or 25 years old (depending on the vehicle category and the agency). Drivers under 25 may be subject to an additional fee.
- Driving licence: It is mandatory to present a valid physical national driving licence. It is recommended to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with the original licence, especially if it does not include a translation into Cyrillic.
- Passport and visa: You must present your original passport with the entry stamp or a valid visa.
- Credit card: A credit card in the name of the main driver is required for the security deposit (excess). Please note that, due to current international banking restrictions, it is advisable to check in advance with the agency whether cards issued outside Russia are accepted.

5 tips for renting a car abroad
- Certify that you have a valid driver's license to drive in the destination country. If you are a foreigner, check if you need to validate your license in your country of origin. It should be noted that the International permit is NOT valid by itself, it must always be accompanied by the National Driver's License.
- Documentation and vehicle insurance required according to current traffic regulations.
