Connecting at Jakarta airport

Connection time calculator, immigration and security, and how to move between terminals at CGK.

How connections work at CGK

At Jakarta airport, passengers connecting between two international flights can usually stay in the transit area without going through immigration. If you connect from an international to a domestic flight, you enter the country here: you go through immigration and collect and re-check your bags.

The airport has 3 terminals or concourses (Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3). They are not connected after security: changing means going through security again.

Connecting passengers go through a transfer security screening.

Terminals / concourses: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3

Getting between them: Free landside Automated People Mover System (Skytrain / Kalayang) connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3 and the airport railway station, complemented by free shuttle buses.

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are physically separate complexes and are not connected airside. Transferring between different terminals requires exiting to the landside area.

Passengers transferring between international and domestic flights must clear Indonesian passport control in Jakarta; same-terminal international-to-international transit passengers bypass immigration.

  • Inter-terminal transfers require passing landside and riding the Skytrain or shuttle bus; leave ample buffer time when changing terminals.
  • For international-to-domestic connections, you must collect your checked bags, pass customs inspection, and re-check at your domestic airline counter.
  • Fill out the mandatory digital All Indonesia Arrival Card online up to three days before arrival to speed through immigration and customs.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.
