  Overnight layover guide: sleeping options in the public area and the boarding area

Belgrade Airport is a viable option for an overnight stay, especially after recent renovations that have improved comfort in the departure areas. If you have an early morning flight or a long connection, the terminal allows passengers to stay overnight, although there are important factors to consider to improve the experience.

Where to rest

The best area for resting is located in the airside transit zone of Terminal 2. Near the departure gates (especially in the corridors of zones C and A), there are benches without armrests that allow you to lie down. Recently, some reclining “long chairs” have been installed in the more modern waiting areas, ideal for a more comfortable nap.

If you are in the landside public area, the seats are metal and have armrests, which makes lying down difficult. This area is usually noisier due to the constant flow of people and cleaning operations, so the use of earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones is recommended.

Climate and Comfort

Temperature: Air conditioning is usually set very low during the night, making the environment quite cold. It is essential to bring a coat, travel blanket or hoodie.

Lighting: Terminal lights remain fully on throughout the night. A sleep mask will be very useful for getting some rest.

Luggage

The airport currently does not offer luggage storage or lockers. This means that if you choose to spend the night in the public area before check-in, you must keep your belongings with you at all times, which may limit your mobility and comfort while resting.

Food and Drink

Although most restaurants and cafés close between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am, there is a convenience store in Terminal 1 that operates 24 hours a day. In addition, there are vending machines with snacks and drinks across both terminals, accepting local currency and, in some cases, credit cards.

Connectivity and 24-hour Services

Wi-Fi: The service is free and unlimited, with good speeds suitable for streaming or work.

Power sockets: There are charging stations and under-seat power outlets in the refurbished gate areas.

Finance: ATMs and some currency exchange offices in the arrivals area operate 24 hours a day.

Showers

There are no publicly available showers. The only facilities available for washing are located inside the Air Serbia Premium Lounge, so you will need lounge access or to pay the applicable entry fee during opening hours.

Private Alternatives

If resting at the terminal is not an option for you, several hotels located within 3 km (such as Airport Hotel Garni) offer quick transfers, allowing you to sleep in a proper bed for a few hours before your flight.
