Spending the Night at the Airport

Thessaloniki Airport is open 24 hours a day, allowing passengers with early morning flights or long connections to stay overnight on site. However, it is a relatively busy airport, so it is recommended to take precautions.

Where to Rest

• The seats in the terminal are usually made of plastic and, in some areas, do not have armrests, which allows passengers to lie down. It is recommended to bring a travel pillow, sleeping bag or blankets for greater comfort.
• The departures area (after security) tends to be quieter and darker, which may be a better option to try to rest.
• Although the VIP lounges offer a superior environment, these facilities close during the night and are not available for overnight stays.
• The most comfortable option is to use one of the hotels located near the airport, such as the Hyatt Regency or the Avalon Airport Hotel, which offer shuttle services to and from the terminal.

Security and Belongings

It is crucial to keep personal belongings safe at all times. It is recommended to use backpacks with secure fastenings and to remain aware of your surroundings. There have been no major security issues reported, but personal vigilance is always advisable.

Luggage

At present, the airport does not offer luggage storage services where you can leave your bags. This means that you must stay with your luggage until check-in time.

Food and Drink

Most food and beverage outlets at the airport close during the night. It is advisable to purchase food and drinks in advance if you plan to spend the night in the terminal, or bring your own provisions.

The Wi-Fi service is free, unlimited and available 24 hours a day.
