El Salvador International Airport San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez (SAL), historically known as Comalapa Airport and opened on January 31, 1980, serves the metropolitan area of San Salvador and the entire country. It is one of the main air transportation hubs in Central America, with direct and regular routes to major cities in North America (such as Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, New York, Mexico City, and Toronto), Central America and the Caribbean (Panama City, San José, Guatemala City, and Santo Domingo), South America (Bogotá, Lima), and Europe (Madrid).

Terminals

The airport features a single multi-level passenger terminal building operating continuously 24 hours a day. It houses 122 check-in counters, security checkpoints, boarding lounges with jet bridges, and an expanded arrivals area equipped with 34 immigration desks and 12 baggage carousels. All wings and concourses are interconnected on foot via indoor walkways.

The airport features 24-hour secured parking facilities within easy walking distance of the passenger terminal, divided into two main zones:

General Parking

An open-air parking lot located directly in front of the terminal building, well-suited for short visits as well as extended multi-day parking.

Situated right in front of the terminal check-in and arrivals entrances, featuring covered spaces with solar canopies and round-the-clock video surveillance.

Payment and recommendations

Collect a ticket at the automated barrier when entering and keep it secure. Before returning to your car, validate and pay your ticket at self-service pay stations in the terminal exit corridors (cash in US dollars and credit or debit cards accepted). Following payment, a 25-minute grace period is granted to exit the lot. Dedicated spaces are reserved in both areas for travelers with disabilities.
