Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Burkina Faso

The use of masks in public places is mandatory in Burkina Faso.

If you think you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should call the government hotlines +226 01 60 89 89 / +226 52 19 53 94 / +226 70 95 93 27.

Isolation is mandatory for those who have tested positive for coronavirus, and the two-week quarantine for those who have had physical contact with a confirmed case.

The international airports of Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso are operating with limited international commercial flights. Check with your travel company for the latest information. Land borders are closed.

All international arrivals to Burkina Faso must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate dated no later than 5 days prior to arrival in Burkina Faso.

Passengers who do not submit a negative PCR test certificate dated no later than 5 days prior to arrival in Burkina Faso will have their identity documents temporarily confiscated and required to undergo an RDT test AND a test PCR at your expense. Mandatory hotel quarantine may be required, at the passenger's expense, based on test results.

All passengers departing from Burkina Faso must present a negative PCR test certificate dated no later than 5 days prior to departure.

You will need to comply with the additional control measures established by the authorities and keep up to date with the information from your tour operator, transport provider or accommodation on the impact on any existing travel plan.

 Tips before departing

  Make sure you arrive at Ouagadougou airport (OUA) at least 3 hours before the flight if it is an international flight or 2 if it is a domestic one.

  Check the luggage limits (size, weight, items forbidden, etc) with your airline.

  Have all the documentation to carry out the check in (ticket, passport, Visa).

After passing the security area you will get in at the boarding zone. Check you boarding gate and wait the airline call, always having in hand your passport and boarding pass.
