Covid-19: Regulations for travel to South Africa

International travel to South Africa is allowed. You need to meet the requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

It is mandatory to submit medical certificate / proof

Upon arrival, proof of a negative PCR test must be presented, taken no longer than 72 hours. The certificate must be a paper copy as digital certificates will not be accepted. This also applies to travelers in transit. Those without a valid test result will be screened upon arrival and are subject to mandatory quarantine for 10 days at a government-designated facility. All costs for testing and quarantine will be borne by the traveler.

Other medical measures

All passengers are subject to health checks on arrival, such as temperature checks and visual evaluation. More health tests may be required for those showing symptoms of COVID-19. Those who test positive must be quarantined for 10 days in a designated facility.

Additional documents required

A 'travel health questionnaire' must be completed within 48 hours of departure. This can be requested on departure and arrival.

 Tips before departing
