Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Cayman Islands

Passengers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no later than 72 hours prior to departure from the first boarding point.
- This does not apply to passengers under 5 years of age.
2. Passengers must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to departure. The accepted vaccines are AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), Covishield, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm and Sinovac. More details can be found HERE
- This does not apply to Cayman Islands nationals and residents.
3. Passengers must obtain approval from Travel Cayman via https://travelcayman.gov.ky/
4. Passengers arriving or having been in Belgium, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe in the last 21 days are subject to a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival.

Detailed tourist information

Eligible travelers to visit the Cayman Islands are:

-All travelers fully vaccinated (safely and non-securely verifiable) *

- Alligators who return unvaccinated, residents and holders of work permits.

-Unvaccinated visitors who have close ties to the country (people who own local properties and businesses, or who are the spouse, civil partner, father, stepfather, son, grandson, stepson or grandfather of a resident or Cayman Islands)

-Travellers under the age of 18 who are vaccinated with one dose when traveling from jurisdictions that only allow one dose for this age group.

Travel is restricted from Belgium, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Cruise ship travelers and unvaccinated tourists (including unvaccinated child tourists) are not allowed at this time.

All travelers must:

Request an Official Travel Certificate on the Travel Cayman portal requesting a Travel Declaration.

Be fully vaccinated with a WHO approved vaccine.

Perform a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test prior to arrival 72 hours prior to departure with a negative result; This is mandatory for all travelers aged 4 and over.

Perform a lateral flow test (LFT; also known as a rapid antigen test) on days 2, 5, and 10 of your stay.

Have adequate travel and medical insurance, which should ensure that COVID-19 is not an exclusion from existing policies.

Request an Official Travel Certificate on the Travel Cayman portal requesting a Travel Declaration.

Always remember to check with your airline, your itinerary and requirements at the time of boarding, to comply with the protocol and restrictions according to the destination you are going to.

 Tips before departing

  Make sure you arrive at George Town airport (GCM) at least 3 hours before the flight if it is an international flight or 2 if it is a domestic one.

  Check the luggage limits (size, weight, items forbidden, etc) with your airline.

  Have all the documentation to carry out the check in (ticket, passport, Visa).

  Check the  Transportation available towards the George Town airport (GCM) and the Terminal where you depart. If you arrive at the airport by car check the airport   Parking facilities.

  Check the   Facilities and Lounges (if there are) within the airport grounds, to organize your waiting.

  Once inside the terminal, look at the electronic screens to know the status of your flight. If necessary, declare your new electronic devices at the Tax office.

  At the check-in desk (if necessary) you can check the big baggage, show your ticket (printed or in your phone) and passport and receive your boarding pass. In case you do not need to check a luggage, some airports have self-service check in kiosks where you can get and print your boardking pass.

  Then, at the security control area, if you bring a laptop or a similar device, in you cabin luggage, you will have to place it outside the hang bag. After passing the security area you will get in at the boarding zone. Check you boarding gate and wait the airline call, always having in hand your passport and boarding pass.

  If you are a handicapped passenger, you should coordinate your trip with your airline at least 48 hours in advance and check the  Disabled Passengers facilities. Enjoy your flight!
