Viru Viru International Airport, opened in 1983, serves the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and is the main air terminal in Bolivia. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in South America, Panama, Dominican Republic, the United States and Spain.

Bus - There are regular, green and white minibus services (line 135) that travel to El Trompillo Airport, also stopping at Parque Acuático Playland, Parque Cementerio Las Misiones, Cristo Redentor and Plaza Principal 24 de Septiembre. Taxi - Ranks are located next to the terminals and vehicles are operated by Radio Móvil Viru Viru (Tel +591 328 3232 / 333 6002). The trip to the city centre takes around 30 minutes.

Facilities and services include ramps and adapted toilets, and assistance to board and disembark from the airplane. Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should request them at the counter of their airline. Unaccompanied minors between 5 and 12 years old will be escorted and supervised by the airline crew.
