Nighttime Airport Closure

Overnight stays are not permitted at Toussaint Louverture International Airport. The terminal is not open 24 hours a day; it closes completely after the last evening flight operates and reopens at 6:00 am the following morning. During the night, no passenger services remain available inside the facility, including dining, stores, pharmacies, or transportation.

Security Advisories

Due to serious public safety concerns in the surrounding metropolitan area and the commune of Tabarre, waiting outside the airport grounds or attempting to spend the night in the vicinity is strictly discouraged. Arriving travelers must have pre-arranged hotel accommodations and an authorized private transfer or hotel shuttle waiting for them upon arrival.

Services and opening hours can change. If you plan to sleep in the public area, have a plan B: some airports only let passengers with a flight stay overnight.

Tips for a long layover

  1. Check whether you can leave the airport: it depends on your nationality, the visa rules of Haiti and whether your bags are checked through.
  2. If you sleep airside, you will usually need a boarding pass for a flight that day. Ask your airline before you go through security.
