Depending on your destination and budget, you can choose from various ground transport options that connect the airport with the city centre and other locations in the region.

Buses to Marseille City Centre

The shuttle bus service (Navette Marseille Aéroport) is the fastest and most direct way to reach Marseille Saint-Charles railway station, located in the city centre.

  • Operator: La Métropole Mobilité (RTM) - Line A1.
  • Frequency: Every 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Schedule: From 4:05 am to 1:50 am.
  • Journey time: Approximately 25 minutes.
  • Fare: A single ticket costs €10.00. The bus stop is located between the terminals.

Buses to Other Cities

There are numerous intercity bus lines connecting the airport with popular destinations in the Provence region, such as Aix-en-Provence, Salon de Provence, and Sisteron.

  • Aix-en-Provence: RTM Line A2. Stops on request at Pôle d'activités and Plan d'Aillane. Duration: 30 min. Fare: €10.00.
  • Salon de Provence: Line 17, stopping at Vitrolles, Rognac, and Lançon-Provence. A direct service (Line 19) is also available.
  • Sisteron - Gap: Lines 65, 66 and 69 operated by ZOU!. Stops at Manosque, Forcalquier, Digne-Les-Bains, and Tallard. Duration: 3 hours.
  • Martigues: Line 38 towards Marignane, Gignac-la-Nerthe, Châteauneuf-les-Martigues, and La Mède. Duration: 1 hour.
  • Long-distance: BlaBlaCar Bus and Flixbus services connect with cities such as Fréjus, Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Nîmes, Montpellier, Béziers, Narbonne, Toulouse, Bordeaux, and Toulon.
  • Ski resorts: Transfers to the main ski resorts in the Southern Alps operated by ZOU!. Every Saturday during the ski season.

Trains (TER)

The airport does not have its own railway station. To take a TER (Transport Express Régional) train, you need to travel to Vitrolles-Aéroport-Marseille-Provence (VAMP) station.

  • Connection to the station: Line 13 takes you to VAMP station in about 5 minutes.
  • Train operator: SNCF.
  • Destinations: From VAMP, trains run to Marseille Saint-Charles (city centre), Arles, Nîmes, Montpellier, Béziers, Narbonne, Perpignan, Montélimar, Valence, and Toulon.
  • Journey time to St-Charles: Approximately 15–20 minutes (once on the train).
  • Fare: The shuttle bus transfer ticket costs €1.20.

Taxis

The taxi rank is located in front of Terminal 1, in the arrivals area, and vehicles are available 24 hours a day. The journey to Marseille city centre takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

  • Daytime fare: Fixed price to Marseille city centre: €50.00 (from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm).
  • Night-time/holiday fare: Fixed price to Marseille city centre: €60.00 (from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am, Sundays and public holidays).

Transportation Tips to/from the airport

Some of these tips may seem obvious, but they are worth keeping in mind when traveling to or from the airport, especially if you are using public transportation.
 
 1 - To the airport: leave a little earlier than usually recommended. If you take a taxi or a private car service, allow for rush hour traffic, demonstrations, strikes or events that could delay your trip. It always helps to check the local news before you leave.
 
If you book a shared shuttle, keep the company's contact number handy in case the pickup is late. These services usually confirm a scheduled pickup time in advance.
 
If you use public transportation (bus or train), check the schedules (weekends and holidays usually have less frequent service), whether you need to transfer, and how to pay the fare (a transit card, or cash to the driver). These details seem obvious, but knowing them ahead of time can save you from a delay that could cause problems.
 
If you drive a rental car to the airport, check where to return it. Many airports have a dedicated rental car return area.
 
 2 - From the airport: this part is less stressful, since there is no risk of missing a flight. At worst, you will reach your hotel or meeting point a little later than planned.
 
Once you leave the plane, collect your baggage and complete any required arrival procedures. Then follow the signs for ground transportation or ask airport staff.
 
Check bus and train schedules in advance if you arrive late at night, since not all services run 24 hours. The same applies to taxis. If you plan to use a ride-hailing app such as Uber, have it ready on your phone to contact the driver.
 
If you booked a private transfer, a driver will usually be waiting for you with a sign. If you are renting a car, booking in advance gives you more peace of mind. Rental counters are usually located in the arrivals hall.
