Buses
The airport is connected to the Reykjavík metropolitan area by two main bus services: a private shuttle service (Flybus) and the local public bus (Strætó).
Flybus: Private shuttle service operated by Reykjavík Excursions. It runs between the airport and the Reykjavík Bus Terminal (BSÍ). Departures take place approximately 40 minutes after the arrival of each flight. The service includes stops at selected accommodations and other points of interest, such as Aktu Taktu in Gardabaer and Fjörukráin in Hafnarfjördur. Online booking
Strætó (Route 55): A more economical public bus service connecting the airport with the capital (BSÍ Terminal) and other intermediate stops (Hringbraut, Midstöd, Fjördur). Check the official website for timetables and specific stops. Routes and timetables
All bus companies have ticket sales counters in the arrivals hall.
Rent a Car
Taxis
Taxi service is available 24 hours a day, located directly outside the arrivals hall. The journey to Reykjavík city centre takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
The service operates by taximeter, so the final price varies considerably depending on the time of day and traffic conditions, generally making it an expensive option. Passengers are advised to ask for a fixed or estimated fare before starting the journey. All vehicles accept credit cards.
