Connecting at Seoul Gimpo airport

Connection time calculator, immigration and security, and how to move between terminals at GMP.

How connections work at GMP

At Seoul Gimpo airport, passengers connecting between two international flights can usually stay in the transit area without going through immigration. If you connect from an international to a domestic flight, you enter the country here: you go through immigration and collect and re-check your bags.

The airport has 2 terminals or concourses (Domestic Terminal, International Terminal). They are not connected after security: changing means going through security again.

Connecting passengers go through a transfer security screening.

Terminals / concourses: Domestic Terminal, International Terminal

Getting between them: Free shuttle between terminals about every 5 minutes (public side only)

Two separate buildings about 500 m apart. International to domestic (or the reverse) means immigration, collecting bags and checking in again at the other terminal. International to international stays airside in the transit area, with a security check for transfer passengers and no passport control.

  • International to domestic takes about 60 to 90 minutes of real transfer time.
  • International to international takes about 30 minutes through the transfer security check.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.
