Overnight stay at the airport

Can you spend the night at Fort-de-France airport (FDF)? Opening hours, rest areas and services for long layovers. See also the airport guide for general information.

Airport Night Hours

The passenger terminal at Fort-de-France Airport does not stay open 24 hours. The building closes after the last daily flight departs or arrives, typically between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. Security personnel do not allow passengers to remain or sleep inside the terminal overnight, except in rare instances authorized due to extreme flight delays or emergency disruptions.

Sleeping Facilities and Overnight Alternatives

The airport does not feature dedicated rest zones, sleeping pods, or 24-hour food outlets or pharmacies. If you have an early morning departure or an overnight transfer, you are strongly advised to book a room in advance at one of the hotels or guesthouses located in Le Lamentin or nearby Fort-de-France.

Services and opening hours can change. If you plan to sleep in the public area, have a plan B: some airports only let passengers with a flight stay overnight.

Tips for a long layover

  1. Check whether you can leave the airport: it depends on your nationality, the visa rules of Martinique and whether your bags are checked through.
  2. If you sleep airside, you will usually need a boarding pass for a flight that day. Ask your airline before you go through security.
  3. A lounge with day access can be cheaper than a hotel for a few hours: see VIP lounges at FDF.
  4. Keep your valuables with you, set an alarm and carry a light layer: terminals are often cold at night.
  5. Going to a hotel in town? See transportation from FDF (12 km to Fort-de-France), and check which services run at night.
