How connections work at CDG

At Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, passengers connecting between two international flights can usually stay in the transit area without going through immigration.

The airport has 9 terminals or concourses (Terminal 1, Terminal 2A, Terminal 2B, Terminal 2C, Terminal 2D, Terminal 2E, Terminal 2F, Terminal 2G, Terminal 3).

Connecting passengers go through a transfer security screening.

Terminals / concourses: Terminal 1, Terminal 2A, Terminal 2B, Terminal 2C, Terminal 2D, Terminal 2E, Terminal 2F, Terminal 2G, Terminal 3

Getting between them: CDGVAL automated metro (landside connecting T1, T3, and T2), LISA train (airside connecting Terminal 2E halls K, L, M), airside transfer buses (Navettes correspondances), and pedestrian walkways between adjacent halls

Connecting flights between terminals are linked airside via dedicated shuttle buses (Blue, Orange, Yellow, Red) and the LISA automated train (connecting Terminal 2E halls K, L, and M), or via airside walkways between certain adjacent halls (such as 2B and 2D). Terminal 3 has no airside connection.

Transfers between Schengen and non-Schengen flights (or vice versa) require border control clearance by the French Border Police (PAF).

  • Follow the yellow 'Connecting flights' signs to reach your departure gate or airside connection shuttle without leaving the transit zone.
  • Use PARAFE biometric e-gates at border control when transferring between Schengen and non-Schengen flights to minimize queue times.
  • Air France and Groupe ADP offer a Short Connection Pass granting automatic priority lane access at security and border controls during tight connections.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.

Data checked on October 18, 2026. Times are estimates: always check with your airline.
