Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Ethiopia

Vaccinations and travel rules for vaccinated people

Travelers who present a valid international certificate of complete vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, are exempt from the self-isolation requirement.

It is mandatory to submit medical certificate / proof

Upon arrival, proof of a negative RT-PCR test, taken within the previous 5 days, must be presented. The 5-day period begins when the sample is provided and not when the certificate is issued. Authorities may also require travelers to show a valid test result before boarding. The test result must be validated using the Africa Union Trusted Travel or UNDP Global Haven systems. Travelers only need to register and upload the results to one of these sites. This will generate a Trusted Travel digital reference code that must be presented along with the test result on arrival.

Other medical measures

All passengers are subject to health checks upon arrival, such as temperature checks. More health tests may be required for those showing symptoms of COVID-19. These travelers will be taken to a government-designated facility for testing and follow-up care. All costs incurred will be borne by the traveler.

Additional documents required

Travelers must complete a health screening questionnaire upon arrival.
