Desierto de Atacama Airport, also known as Caldera Airport and opened on January, 2005, serves the Atacama region. It operates with domestic flights, especially to Santiago de Chile.

  Location

The airport is situated 50 km (31 miles) northwest from Copiapó (capital of the Atacama region) and 20 km (12.5 miles) to the south of the city of Caldera and Bahía Inglesa beach.

Food & Drinks- Coffee shop and restaurant in the public area and a café in the Departures Hall.
Shopping- Souvenirs, regional goods, handicrafts.
Baggage- Enquiries about lost property should be directed to the counter of the appropriate airline.

Taxi - Next to the terminal building entrance there are cabs from Taxi RCK (Tel +56 9 100 1839), Taxi Aeropuerto Luis Arnes Ruiz (Tel +56 9 9209 4546 / 52 231 5873) and Taxi Turismo Anymar (Tel +56 9 8145 0090 / 7734 6470). Journey time to Copiapó is 45 minutes and to Caldera is 20 min.

The public car park is located in front of the terminal building and is open from Sunday to Friday between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and Saturday from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm.

 
 

For special passengers (reduced mobility, elderly, children, pregnant women) that require special attention, it is suggested to make the proper arrangements with their airline at least 48 hours before the flight.
