São Paulo/Congonhas Airport, opened on April 12, 1936, is the busiest in the country regarding domestic flights. Due to a tragic accident that took place on July, 2007, the two runways were enlarged and combination flights were eliminated, leaving only direct flights, to reduce traffic. Since then, it has been considered one of the safest airports in Brazil.
