Salvador - Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport, founded in 1925 and reopened on September 2, 2002, is the busiest in the state of Bahia and Northeastern Brazil, and one of the most important in the country. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Argentina and Europe.

The airport is located 22 km (13.7 miles) northeast from downtown Salvador de Bahia.

Vans and buses Mais Turismo Bahia (Tel +55 71 4141 6937) offers transfer services to and from the airport, with destinations in Salvador, Praia de Forte, Costa do Sauipe, Guarajuba and Imbassai. Taxi - On the ground floor of the terminal you can find vehicles from COMTAS (Tel +55 71 3377 6311 / 3251 6780) 24 hours a day, and from COOMETAS (Tel +55 71 3244 4500 / 3251 8145) between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. The trip to the city centre takes 30-40 minutes.

 

Car rental desks from companies Hertz (Tel +55 71 3377 3633 / 3637 / 3631), Localiza (Tel +55 71 3377 0595), Movida (Tel +55 71 3204 1693) and Unidas (Tel +55 71 3204 1175 / 3377 1244) are available on the ground floor of the terminal and open 24 hours a day.

 

The airport has banks, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, post office, public telephones, mobile phone service and Wi-Fi access free of charge.

Food and Drinks- There are several restaurants, confectioneries, fast food outlets, icecream stores, cafés, pizza places and bars on both levels of the terminal, some of them open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- A large variety of businesses is available, including duty-free shops in the Domestic Departures Hall, handicrafts, regional goods, clothing and accessories, books and magazines, jewellery, tobacco, sweets, perfumes, cosmetics, music.
Baggage- 24-hour secure luggage wrapping on the first floor. The lost and found office is located in the Domestic Arrivals Hall and operates Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Tel +55 71 3204 1760).
Other Services- Medical clinic, pharmacy, travel agencies, lottery, baby changing room.
