Santa Cruz de la Sierra airport (VVI)

Viru Viru International Airport, opened in 1983, serves the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and is the main air terminal in Bolivia. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in South America, Panama, the United States and Spain.

Number of Terminals - 2 - National Terminal and International Terminal. Open 24 hours a day and located next to each other.
Annual passenger traffic: 2.6 million passengers went through it in 2016.

  Location

The airport is located 17 km (10.3 miles) to the north of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

There are car rental offices outside the International Arrivals Hall.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (24 hours a day), VIP rooms, mobile phone services, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access.

Food and Drinks- There is a coffee shop in the central hall of the ground floor.
Shopping- In the international pre-boarding sector there is a duty-free shop. You can also find convenience stores, handicrafts, sweets, jewellery, magazines, perfumes, clothing.
Baggage- Luggage storage in the hallway connecting the main hall with the Domestic Arrivals area. Secure wrapping service in the Domestic Arrivals Hall. For any problems with registered luggage, you should head for the counter of the corresponding airline.
Other Services- Travel agencies, emergency medical services.

 
 

Bus - There are regular, green and white minibus services (line 135) that travel to El Trompillo Airport, also stopping at Parque Acuático Playland, Parque Cementerio Las Misiones, Cristo Redentor and Plaza Principal 24 de Septiembre. They operate every 20 minutes from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm. Total journey time is around 30 min. More information: Tel +591 336 9015.

Taxi - Ranks are located next to the terminals and vehicles are operated by Radio Movil Viru Viru (Tel +591 328 3232 / 333 6002). The trip to the city centre takes around 30 minutes.

Facilities and services include ramps and adapted toilets, and assistance to board and disembark from the airplane. Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should request them at the counter of their airline. Unaccompanied minors between 5 and 12 years old will be escorted and supervised by the airline crew.
