Darwin International Airport, opened in 1945, is the busiest in the Northern Territory. It operates with domestic destinations and international flights within Oceania and Asia.

The airport is located 13 km (8 miles) northeast from Darwin.

Bus - Line 3 of the public transport (Darwinbus - Tel +61 889 247 666) operates to and from Casuarina Interchange, on the northern side of the city, Mondays through Fridays between 6:25 am and 6:32 pm, Saturdays from 6:20 am to 6:40 pm, and Sundays from 6:55 am to 6:40 pm. Intermediate stops include Alawa, Jingili, Marrara, Moil and Anula. Darwin City Airport Shuttle Service (Tel +61 889 473 979) runs to most accommodations in the city. Departures correspond with flight schedules and the stop is found in front of the terminal. Journey time to downtown Darwin is 15 minutes. The company has a desk opposite the luggage carousels. You can also book services from Buslink (Tel +61 889 442 444), Coach Charters Australia (Tel +61 889 881 447), Grand Touring Coaches (Tel 1800 444 149 / +61 889 810 300) and Greyhound Australia (Tel 1800 801 294 / +61 746 909 850) to destinations in the Northern Territory and throughout the country. Taxi - Metered cabs available across from the terminal. Companies operating inside the enclosure are Blue Taxi (Tel 138 294 / +61 889 813 777), Darwin Radio Taxis (Tel 131 008), People Movers NT (Tel +61 889 832 111) and City Palmerston Minibuses (Tel +61 889 803 700). The trip to the city centre takes 10-20 minutes.

 

There are car rental counters from companies Avis (Tel 136 333 / +61 889 450 662), Budget (Tel 132 727 / +61 889 452 011), Europcar (Tel 131 390 / +61 889 410 300), Hertz (Tel 133 039 / +61 889 450 999), Redspot/Enterprise (Tel 1300 668 810 / +61 889 453 909) and Thrifty (Tel 1300 367 227 / +61 889 242 480) in the Arrivals Hall, near the baggage reclaim area, on the ground floor.

 

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, mailbox, VIP lounges, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access.

Food and Drinks- On both levels there are coffee shops, bars, restaurants and fast food outlets. Dôme and Giancarlo Café and Bar are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- There are duty-free stores in the international area, in addition to shops selling regional products, clothing and newsagents.
Baggage- Luggage trolleys free of charge inside the terminal and the car parks. Lockers inside the short-term parking lot, next to the terminal (Tel 1300 369 008). Lost property service at the control centre, next to gate 6, from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm (Tel +61 889 201 805).

The enclosure has three parking lots operating around the clock. Payment can be made inside the car park itself or at one of the stations located on the ground floor of the terminal. Long Stay Plus - 200 meters away from the terminal, next to the car rental facilities.

Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs are advised to notify their airline or travel agency about their needs at the time of their booking. Designated parking spaces are available on each side of the pedestrian walkways leading to the terminal. There are also escalators, lifts and adapted toilets.
