Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, opened in 1949, serves Santa Clara County and is one of the three largest in the area of San Francisco Bay, in California. It operates with domestic flights (including Hawaii) and some international destinations in Mexico, Canada, Europe, Japan and China.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals A and B, open 24 hours a day. They are connected by free shuttles.
Airlines: Terminal A (Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Air China, American Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines, Volaris); Terminal B (Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Hainan Airlines, Lufthansa, Southwest Airlines).
Annual passenger traffic: Around 10.8 million passengers went through it in 2016.
Tel: +1 408 392 3600. Information counters in the baggage reclaim hall of both terminals. They operate Mondays through Saturdays between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm and Sundays from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

 

The airport is located 4 km (2.5 miles) to the northwest of downtown San Jose.

Bus - Line 10 (Airport Flyer) from Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) (Tel +1 408 321 2300) links both terminals with Metro Light Rail Station and Santa Clara Transit Center. Buses are free and leave every 15-30 minutes from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm.
From the station located in the city centre depart services from Greyhound (Tel +1 408 295 4151) to the entire country.
Monterey Airbus (Tel +1 831 373 7777) travels to Monterey, Marina, Prunedale and San Francisco Airport.
Santa Cruz Airport Flyer (Tel +1 831 423 5937) runs to Santa Cruz.
In addition, there are shared van services to different destinations.

Train - Caltrain (Tel +1 800 660 4287) operates services from Santa Clara Station to destinations in the area, such as Lawrence, Sunnyvale, San Antonio, Palo Alto, Redwood City, Burlingame, Millbrae, Bayshore and San Francisco (90-minute trip; fare - USD10.50).
There are also trains from Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) (Tel +1 800 411 7245) four times a day to downtown San Jose (12 min.; USD4.25), Santa Clara, Great America, Fremont, Pleasanton, Livermore, Tracy, Lathrop and Stockton.
On the other hand, at Fremont there is a station from Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) (Tel +1 510 441 2278), where you can board trains to Richmond and Daly City, and at Diridon is found an Amtrak station (Tel +1 408 287 7462) with services to Auburn, Sacramento, Emeryville, Oakland, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles.

Taxi - Ranks are located outside the terminals. The fare to downtown San Jose is around USD15.00 and takes 10-15 minutes. Offices are located in the Car Rental Center, situated across from Terminal B and linked to Terminal A through courtesy shuttles.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (9:00 am to 7:00 pm), mailboxes, VIP lounges, workstations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. The Club at SJC lounge is located on the third level of Terminal A, across from gate 15, and opens from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm; it offers computers, refreshments, showers, newspapers and magazines, telephones, Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning, drinks, conference facilities, fax (access with Priority Pass, Lounge Club or Diners Club membership, through online booking or by paying at the door - USD40.00).

Food and Drinks- There are several local and international restaurants, pizza stores, fast food outlets, coffee shops and bars inside both terminals.
Shopping- Duty-free shops between gates 14 and 15, bookstores, newsagents, souvenirs, electronics, accessories, cosmetics, clothing.
Baggage- Luggage cart hire for USD5.00 in the baggage recollection area. Lost and found office between the terminals (Tel +1 408 392 3559), available Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Other Services- Children's playground, massage chairs, nursing rooms, meditation area.

Economy Lot 1 - For long stays, with complimentary shuttle service every 7-10 minutes.
Hourly Lot 2 & 3 - Covered parking for short stays across from terminals A and B, respectively. Inter-terminal shuttles every 10 min.
Hourly Lot 5 - Short-term area, with buses to Terminal B from 4:30 am to 0:30 am.
Daily Lot 4 & 6 - For long stays. Shuttles to the terminals every 10 min. Located to the south of the car rental center.

 

Accessible taxis and shuttles for passengers with reduced mobility are available. Contact your airline in advance to request special assistance or wheelchairs. Facilities include reserved parking spaces, relief areas for service animals, adapted telephones and restrooms.
