San Francisco International Airport, opened on May 7, 1927, serves the entire San Francisco and Silicon Valley area and is one of the busiest in the country. It operates with domestic and international flights around the world.

Number of Terminals - 4 - Terminals 1, 2, 3 and International. Open 24 hours a day. The AirTrain runs around the clock between the terminals, the parking garages and the car rental center.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, mailboxes, VIP rooms, charging and workstations, mobile phone services and Wi-Fi access with no charge. There is a business center with executive services in the main hall of the International Terminal, while some of the nearby hotels provide meeting and conference rooms.

Food and Drinks- All terminals have regional and international restaurants, pizza places, fast food outlets, icecream stores, cafés and bars. Green Beans Coffee, in Terminal 1, and Roasting Plant Coffee, in the International Terminal, are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shops next to gates G92, A2, G93 and A9, in the International Terminal. There are also retailers selling cosmetics, newspapers and magazines, books, sport goods, jewellery, accessories, clothing, gifts, sweets, electronics.
Baggage- Luggage carts available in all terminals, parking garages and the car rental center for USD4.00. Porters on the Arrivals level of every terminal (Tel +1 650 821 9187). Secure wrapping in the central hall of the International Terminal, from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm (Tel +1 650 877 0422). Left-luggage services in the main hall of the International Terminal (Tel +1 650 877 0422), from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. The police department operates the lost and found office, on the Arrivals level of Terminal 1 (Tel +1 650 821 7014), available from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.
Other Services- Travel agencies, meditation and reading rooms, medical clinic, nursing rooms, shoeshines, showers, spas, yoga rooms, children's play areas, aviation museum.


Bus - SamTrans (Tel +1 800 660 4287) operates services 24 hours a day to San Francisco and San Mateo County, with fares of USD2.25-4.00. Stops are found on the baggage reclaim level of terminals 2 and 3 and on level 1 of the International Terminal. Available routes are KX (San Francisco, Redwood City), 292 (San Francisco, Hillsdale Mall), 397 (San Francisco, Palo Alto) and 398 (San Bruno, Redwood City). Line 140 (Manor/Palmetto) stops at the car rental center, while line 399 is a night service from concouse A to Daly City.
There are also several companies operating shared services to different destinations in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Train - On the Departures level of the International Terminal there is a BART station (Tel +1 415 989 2278), operating express services every 20 minutes to northern San Mateo County, San Francisco and East Bay. It departs Mondays through Fridays between 4:09 am and 11:54 pm, Saturdays from 6:07 am to 11:54 pm and Sundays from 8:07 am to 11:54 pm. Journey time to the city centre is 30 min. and the fare is USD9.25. Stops include San Bruno, Colma, Daly City, Balboa Park, Glen Park, Embarcadero, West Oakland, Orinda, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Concord and Bay Point. It also provides connection to Millbrae Station, where you can board the Caltrain (Tel +1 800 660 4287) to San Jose (USD8.25) and Gilroy (USD12.75).

Taxi - Vehicles available outside the Arrivals level of the terminals. You can also request a cab by calling Tel *1191 from any of the airport's courtesy phones. Assistants are on-site between 7:00 am and 1:00 am. Fares to downtown San Francisco are around USD42.52-62.52 and the trip takes around 20 minutes.

Several areas for short- and long-term parking are available, with charging stations for electric vehicles. 5 minutes away from the terminals there is a passenger pick-up zone (Cell Phone Waiting Lot) which is free for 60 minutes and is open from 5:00 am to 1:00 am. Domestic Parking Garage - 5-storey facility for short stays situated in the center of the airport, with access to all terminals through tunnels. Premium sector (ParkFAST) on level 4.
International Parking Garage A & G - Short-term areas located to the north and south of the International Terminal, linked to it via pedestrian walkways. You can access the other terminals through the AirTrain.
Lot D - Long-term car park with complimentary shuttle service every 5-15 minutes.


There are designated parking spaces, accessible transportation between the terminals, special lanes at the security checkpoints, ramps, adapted restrooms and telephones, and relief areas for service animals. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should arrange the proper services with their airline at the time of their booking.
