San Antonio airport (SAT)

San Antonio International Airport, opened on July, 1942, serves the metropolitan area of the city of the same name and is one of the busiest air terminals in Texas. It operates with domestic and international flights, mainly to Mexico and Canada.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals A and B, open 24 hours a day and connected to each other through a covered walkway.
Airlines: Terminal A (Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Interjet, Southwest Airlines, Volaris); Terminal B (American Airlines, United Airlines).
Annual passenger traffic: More than 8.6 million passengers went through it in 2016.
Tel: +1 210 207 3433 / 3411. There are information desks in the baggage reclaim halls of both terminals, and throughout the enclosure you can find volunteers in blue uniforms.

 

The airport is located 13 km (8 miles) north from the city of San Antonio.

Bus - VIA Metropolitan Transit (Tel +1 866 362 2020) runs route 5 to North Star Mall and the city centre, Mondays through Fridays between 5:29 am and 9:44 pm, Saturdays from 6:02 am to 9:52 pm and Sundays from 6:49 am to 9:48 pm. Journey time is around 30 min. and the fare is USD1.30. Buses leave from the west end of Terminal B, on the Arrivals level.
There are also several companies that offer pre-arranged transportation for groups to different destinations in the area.
Timetables and routes

Taxi - Ranks are situated on the lower level of both terminals, outside the baggage reclaim halls. The 15-minute trip to the city centre has a cost of USD25.00-29.00. The airport has ATMs, currency exchange service (5:30 am to 8:30 pm), VIP lounges, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. In the lobby of Terminal A there is a business center with executive facilities and meeting/conference rooms.

Food and Drinks- There are restaurants, bars, confectioneries, fast food outlets, pizza stores and coffee shops inside both terminals.
Shopping- Duty-free goods in front of gates A6/A7. There are also retailers selling electronics, accessories, souvenirs, books and newsagents.
Baggage- Carts available for USD5.00 throughout the terminals. The lost and found office is handled by the airport police (Tel +1 210 207 3451).
Other Services- Art exhibitions, shoeshines, chapel, nursing room.

 

The enclosure has two covered car parks for short and long stays, linked to the terminals by courtesy shuttles, and a free passenger pick-up zone (Cell Phone Waiting Lot) next to the access roadway. More information: Tel +1 210 207 3465. Rates

Parking Garage - Located opposite the terminals. The first 15 minutes are free of charge.
Green Lot - Economy area away from the main building, with charging stations for electric vehicles.

 

Automatic doors, ramps, elevators, Braille signage, accessible restrooms, drinking fountains and counters, designated parking spaces, relief areas for service animals, adapted telephones and transportation options for passengers with reduced mobility.
