Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, opened in 1928, serves the state of Arizona and is one of the busiest in the country. It operates with domestic and international flights to Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica and Europe.

Number of Terminals - 3 - Terminals 2, 3 and 4 (Barry M. Goldwater), open 24 hours a day. The free Sky Train links the terminals 3 and 4 with each other and the parking lots. Terminals 2 and 3 are connected through a covered walkway.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 43.3 million passengers went through it in 2016.

The airport is located 4.8 km (3 miles) to the east of the city of Phoenix.

Bus - Line 13 from Valley Metro (Tel +1 602 253 5000) runs to the city centre along Buckeye Street, with a journey time of around 45 minutes and a fare of USD2.00. It operates Mondays through Fridays between 4:15 am and 2:20 am, Saturday from 5:00 am to 2:00 am and Sunday from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm. On the other hand, you can use the Sky Train service to reach the nearest station, where other routes operate: route 1 heads to Central Station (25-min. trip), line 32 to Maricopa Medical Center along 32nd Street, and bus 44 to Paradise Valley Mall Transit Center and Desert Ridge Marriott Resort.
SuperShuttle (Tel +1 602 244 9000) operates shared van services to Phoenix and the surrounding area 24 hours a day. Fares range from USD12.00 to USD46.00.
There are also several private companies, such as Arizona Shuttle (Tel +1 800 888 2749) and Maricopa Shuttle (Tel +1 520 568 0123), that provide transportation to different locations, such as Anthem, Arizona City, Buckeye, Casa Grande, Chino Valley, Clarkdale, Dewey, Flagstaff, Florence, Grand Canyon, Jerome, Lake Havasu City, Prescott, Sedona, Spring Valley, Tucson, Welton and Wickenburg.

Train - The PHX Sky Train connects the airport with the Valley Metro train service (Tel +1 602 253 5000), which departs from the station on 44th Street to several destinations inside the city. Trains operate Mondays through Thursdays between 3:30 am and 1:30 am, Fridays and Saturdays around the clock, and Sundays from 3:50 am to 1:30 am. They leave with a frequency of 12-20 minutes and tickets cost USD2.00. Stops include Dunlap, Montebello, Camelback, Central Station, Tempe Transportation Center, Sycamore and Mesa.

Taxi - Cabs available around the clock outside gate 8 of Terminal 2 and gates 6 and 7 of terminals 3 and 4. The fare to the city centre is USD17.00 and the trip takes 10-15 minutes. The airport has currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, mailboxes, VIP lounges, charging stations and free Wi-Fi access. The Hilton hotel located nearby provides meeting rooms and a business center.

Food & Drinks- Inside the three terminals there are restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Some options situated before the security checkpoint are open 24 hours a day: Premiere Grab & Go (Terminal 2), Farmer's Market (Terminal 3), La Madeleine, Paradise Bakery, Starbucks, Wildflower Bread Company (Terminal 4).
Shopping- Newsagents, souvenirs, handicrafts, books, jewellery, toys, clothing, accessories, sweets. Duty-free stores in Terminal 4.

Terminal Garages 2, 3 & 4 - Multi-storey car parks next to each terminal, with covered and outdoor spaces. Charging stations for electric vehicles in garages 3 and 4 (levels B and 4, respectively).
West Economy Park & Walk - Uncovered area close to Terminal 2.
East Economy Parking - Lot with outdoor and indoor bays, connected to terminals 3 and 4 through the Sky Train.

 

All terminals have ramps, automatic doors, elevators, accessible facilities (telephones, restrooms, drinking fountains, counters). There are also reserved parking spaces and electric carts for people transport. The transportation systems are accessible for passengers with reduced mobility, while Performance Mobility (Tel +1 602 418 5076 / 800 859 8880 / 800 456 1371) and Wheelers Accessible Van Rentals (Tel +1 602 333 1594 / 866 333 1594) can provide vans equipped with lifts. Although there are no hotels inside the enclosure, its central location means there are several accommodations nearby, many of which provide complimentary transport for their guests.
