Orlando airport (MCO)

Orlando International Airport, opened in 1942, is the busiest in the state of Florida, along with Miami Airport. In the last years, its traffic has grown thanks to the tourist boom in the city. It operates with domestic destinations and international flights to most of the American continent, Europe and the Middle East.

The airport is located 10 km (6 miles) southeast from the city centre.

Bus - Line 11 from Lynx (Tel +1 407 841 5969) travels to the central station along Orange Avenue from Monday to Friday between 5:52 am and 11:52 pm (5:52 am to 9:52 pm on Saturdays, 6:25 am to 8:25 pm on Sundays), while line 51 runs along Conway St. between 5:28 am and 9:35 pm (5:16 am to 8:17 pm on Sundays). Journey time is approximately 40 minutes. Route 42 goes to Florida Mall and International Drive in around 60 min., from 5:40 am to 10:10 pm (6:30 am to 9:30 pm on Sundays). Bus 111 operates between the airport, Florida Mall and SeaWorld from 5:30 am to 10:30 pm, with a travel time of around 45 min. The fare for all lines is USD2.00.
On the other hand, in the city centre there is a Greyhound station (Tel +1 800 231 2222), where you can board buses to locations throughout the country.
On the ground transportation level of both terminals there are also minibus services provided by Mears Transportation Group (Tel +1 407 423 5566), heading to different destinations inside the Orlando area, and private operators that offer transportation to locations inside Alachua, Lake, Marion, Flagler, Volusia, Highlands, Polk and Brevard counties and the beaches. Fares to downtown Orlando vary between USD20.00 and USD32.00.

Train - Public buses connect the airport with Sand Lake Road Station, from SunRail (Tel +1 855 724 5411). Trains operate Mondays through Fridays between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm and head to DeBary Station, Sanford, Lake Mary, Longwood, Altamonte Springs, Maitland, Winter Park, Lynx Central and Orlando Health/Amtrak. Tickets cost USD2.00-4.00 and the entire trips takes 1 hour.
Inside the city there is also an Amtrak station (Tel +1 800 872 7245 / 215 856 7924), which can be accessed via Lynx's line 11. There you can board services to New York, Washington DC, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville and Tampa.

Taxi - Stands are situated on level 1. The trip to downtown Orlando takes 20 minutes and has a fare of USD38.00-45.00. The airport has currency exchange bureaus (6:00 am to 9:00 pm), ATMs, postal services, VIP lounges, charging stations, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access with no charge. The Hyatt Regency hotel, located inside the main building, offers business services and meeting rooms.

Food and Drinks- There is a great variety of restaurants, fast food outlets, coffee shops and bars. McDonald's is open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shops in concourses 1 and 4. Other stores include souvenirs, newsagents, books, jewellery, perfumes, clothing and accessories, electronics, candy.
Baggage- Trolleys available throughout the terminals and the parking lots. Lost and found office on the third level of side B, opposite the food court, available from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (Tel +1 407 825 2111).

Parking Garage A & B - Multi-storey facilities on both sides of the terminal for short and long stays, with charging stations for electric vehicles on level 2. Most spaces are covered and the first 20 minutes are free.
Terminal Top Parking - Covered parking for short and long periods above the main building. The first 20 min. have no charge.
South & North Park Place Economy Lots - Remote areas with complimentary shuttle service every 10 min., 24 hours a day. 10 min. grace period.
Express Parking - For short stays, behind the car rental facility. Open from 8:00 am to 0:00 am.

 

The enclosure has ramps, lifts, escalators, moving walkways, automated people movers to and from the gate areas, reserved parking spaces, adapted telephones and restrooms, relief areas for service animals. Passengers requiring wheelchairs should contact their airline before their arrival.
