Miami International Airport, opened in 1928, represents a connection point between the United States and Latin America. It also operates with several flights to Europe and worldwide locations. It is the third busiest in the country in terms of international flights, behind New York and Los Angeles airports.

The airport is located 13 km (8 miles) northwest from Miami's financial center.

Bus - There are several services from Metrobus (Tel +1 305 891 3131) to the Miami-Dade area, Key Largo and Key West, with fares of USD2.25. Buses can be boarded at the central station, which you can access through the free MIA Mover tram, departing from the third level of the terminals. SuperShuttle (Tel +1 305 871 2000) provides shared minibus services to destinations inside Miami, Sunny Isles, Coral Gables, Hialeah, Kendall, Homestead, Hallandale, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and Port Everglades. Vans leave from the Arrivals level of concourses D, E, F and H, outside the baggage reclaim areas.

Train - From the central station leave services from Tri-Rail (Tel +1 800 874 7245 / 954 783 6030) that connect Miami with Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. It stops at several stations inside the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The fare to the city centre is USD2.50 and the trip takes 10 minutes.

Metro - The Metrorail Orange Line (Tel +1 305 891 3131) operates from 5:06 am to 0:18 am between the central station and Dadeland South (10-15-minute journey), with a cost of USD2.25. Other stops include Earlington Heights, Santa Clara, Culmer, the civic center, Coconut Grove and the University of Miami.

Taxi - Vehicles available outside the luggage recollection halls, on the lower level. The fare for the 20-minute trip to downtown Miami is USD21.70.

The airport has a bank, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, postal services, VIP lounges, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access (first 30 minutes free of charge). There are two auditoria in the North and South Terminals, a business center in the South Terminal, and meeting rooms in the Miami International Airport Hotel, situated inside the Central Terminal.

Food and Drinks- There is a wide variety of restaurants, fast food outlets, cafés and bars inside the three terminals. Café Versailles, Dunkin' Donuts, Earl of Sandwich, Einstein Bros Bagels and Subway are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shops in concourses D (East and West), E, F, H and J. There are also retailers selling jewellery, books, newspapers, souvenirs, clothing, accessories, perfumes, electronics, sweets, sports.
Baggage- Carts available for USD5.00 inside the terminals and the garages. Secure wrapping on the second level. Left luggage service on the second level of the Central Terminal, from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm (Tel +1 305 869 1163). Lost and found office on the fourth floor of the North Terminal, open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (Tel +1 305 876 7377).

There are ramps, elevators, adapted telephones and toilets, relief areas for service animals, moving walkways and designated spaces on the third level of the parking garages. Taxi and shared van companies have accessible vehicles. The individual airlines can provide wheelchairs.
