Houston George Bush airport (IAH)

George Bush Intercontinental Airport, opened on June, 1969, serves the metropolitan area of Greater Houston and neighbouring cities and is one of the busiest in the country and the world. It operates with domestic and international flights around the globe.

Number of Terminals - 5 - A, B, C (Lewis Cutrer), D (Mickey Leland) and E. Open 24 hours a day. There are two train services that link the terminals. The Skyway connects the buildings while inside security, operating around the clock and with a frequency of 2 minutes. On the other hand, the Subway underground train leaves between 3:30 am and 0:30 am, connecting the public area of the terminals every 3 min.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 41.6 million passengers went through it in 2016.

The information counters are found in the baggage reclaim hall of terminals A and C, the connector hallway between terminals D and E, and on the International Arrivals level of Terminal E. Open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. There are also interactive information kiosks and volunteers in red uniforms throughout the enclosure.


The airport is located 37 km (23 miles) to the north of Houston, next to the city of Humble.

Bus - Line 102 from METRO (Tel +1 713 635 4000) departs every 15-30 minutes from the south end of Terminal C, between 5:00 am and 2:00 am, to the city centre. Journey time is around 90 min. and the fare is USD1.25. Stops include Downtown Transit Center, Greenspoint Mall and Lone Star College. You can make connections to line 40, heading for William Hobby Airport.
SuperShuttle (Tel +1 800 258 3826) provides shared transport to destinations inside the city. Booths are located in the baggage reclaim area of terminals A, B and C and on the Departures level of Terminal E.
United Airlines (Tel +1 800 864 8331) and Sun Travel Airport Shuttle (Tel +1 409 721 9636) offer transportation to Beaumont/Port Arthur and Jack Brooks Regional Airport.
GroundShuttle (Tel +1 855 303 4415) travels to College Station and Easterwood Airport.
Galveston Limousine Service (Tel +1 409 744 5466) runs to Galveston.
Schedules and fares

Taxi - Ranks are located on the south side of terminals A, B and C and at the west end of Terminal E. Assistance personnel is available between 7:00 am and 0:00 am. The trip to the city centre takes 30-45 minutes and costs around USD53.00. Fares are higher from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. More information: Tel +1 281 743 3970.


Car rental desks are located in a separate facility, situated 5 minutes away from the terminals and accessible via courtesy shuttles.

The airport has currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, mailbox, VIP rooms, charging stations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. The Marriott hotel, located in the center of the airport grounds, offers a business center with executive services and meeting rooms.

Food and Drinks- There are numerous restaurants, pizza stores, fast food outlets, confectioneries, cafés and bars scattered throughout the enclosure.
- Duty-free shops in terminals A, B, D and E, in addition to stores selling accessories, apparel, books, toys, cosmetics, sweets, electronics, souvenirs, jewellery, music, newsagents.
Baggage- Trolleys available in the baggage reclaim areas and the passenger drop-off zones. Secure wrapping service in the ticketing area of each terminal. Lost and found office on the ground floor of Terminal E, open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (Tel +1 281 230 3299).

The enclosure has ramps, adapted telephones and toilets, relief areas for service animals, elevators and reserved parking spaces. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should inform their airline or travel agency about their particular needs before their arrival.
