Passenger guide - Honolulu airport (HNL) 

 

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, opened on October 14, 1962, serves all islands in Hawaii. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in North America, Asia and Oceania.

Number of Terminals - 3 - Commuter Terminal, Inter-island Terminal and Overseas Terminal. A free shuttle bus service connects the three terminals from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 19.9 million passengers went through it in 2016.

The airport is located on the island of Oahu, 6 km (4 miles) to the west of the city of Honolulu and 15 km (9 miles) away from Waikiki Beach.

Bus - TheBus (Tel +1 808 848 4500 / 5555) operates buses with a frequency of 30 minutes. Line 19 goes to Kalihi Kai, downtown Honolulu, Honolulu Civic Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center, Waikiki and Hickam Air Force Base. Route 20 travels to Kalihi, the city centre, Honolulu Civic Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center, Waikiki, Arizona Memorial, Aloha Stadium, Aiea and Pearlridge Shopping Center. Line 31 runs to Tripler Medical Center and Kalihi Transit Center. Buses leave from the second level roadway and tickets cost USD2.50.
SpeediShuttle (Tel +1 877 242 5777 / 808 242 7777) offers door-to-door transportation with a fare of USD15.48 to Waikiki and Honolulu Harbor. Stops are located on the ground floor of the Inter-island Terminal, next to the baggage reclaim area C, between baggage reclaim halls D and E of the Overseas Terminal, opposite the Commuter Terminal, and outside baggage reclaim area H.

Taxi - Cabs from AMPCO Express (Tel +1 808 861 8294) are located outside the baggage reclaim halls and have meters. The trip to Waikiki costs USD40.00-45.00 and takes 25-30 minutes.

The airport has currency exchange bureaus (6:00 am to 1:30 pm), ATMs, postal services, VIP lounges, conference rooms, charging and working stations with internet, public telephones and Wi-Fi access. There are business centers in the Overseas and Inter-island Terminals with fax, photocopying, internet, PC and mobile phone hire services.

Food and Drinks- Most options are found in the Overseas Terminal, with restaurants, cafés, fast food outlets, icecream stores, bars and vending machines. In the other two terminals the offer is limited.
Shopping- Duty-free shops in the central lobby and the Departures Concourses of the Overseas Terminal, in addition to newsagents, accessories, electronics, flowers, souvenirs, clothing, cosmetics, jewellery, books and magazines.
Baggage- Carts available for a fee on the Departures level and the baggage reclaim halls, for free in the International Arrivals building. Left luggage services on the Arrivals level, from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm (Tel +1 808 833 2288). There are also private companies nearby that offer lockers: Aloha Airport Delivery (Tel +1 808 372 5411), Alii Stor-Mor (Tel +1 808 836 0135), Hawaii Self Storage (Tel +1 808 836 1500). Lost and found office on the ground level of parking lot D, across from the Overseas Terminal (Tel +1 808 836 6683). It operates Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Other Services- Medical clinic, art and history exhibits, smoking lounges, hair salon.

 

The enclosure has several parking areas open around the clock. The first 15 minutes have no charge. There are also two sectors for passenger pick-up which are free for 60 minutes (Diamond Head Cell Phone Area and Ewa Cell Phone Area), and spaces for bicycles and motorcycles. Lot B (Economy Parking) - Adjacent to the Commuter Terminal, for long stays.

 

Facilities include lifts, ramps, adapted toilets and telephones, and reserved parking spaces. Transportation systems in and around the enclosure are accessible for passengers with reduced mobility, and airlines provide wheelchairs.

 

The enclosure does not have accommodations, but there are some hotels in the vicinity, and a greater offer in the city centre.
