Denver International Airport, opened on February 28, 1995, serves the state of Colorado and is one of the busiest in the country and the world. It operates with domestic and international flights to neighbouring countries, European destinations and Japan. The white and irregular shape of its ceiling simulates the snowy Rocky Mountains.

The airport is located 37 km (23 miles) to the northeast of the city.

Bus - RTD (Tel +1 303 299 6000) operates services from the transit center, at the south end of the terminal. Buses depart every 15 minutes between 3:30 am and 1:28 am. The trip to downtown Denver takes approximately 1 hour and tickets have a cost of USD9.00. There are also numerous operators that offer transportation (private or shared) to different locations inside Colorado and the neighbouring states, the resort areas and ski stations. Coaches leave from islands 1, 3 and 5, on level 5 of the terminal.

Train - Line A from RTD (Tel +1 303 299 6000) departs every 15-30 minutes from level 1 to Peoria, Central Park and Union Station, in the city centre, with a travel time of 37 min. The fare is USD9.00 and tickets can be acquired at vending machines located on the platform.

Taxi - Cabs available in island 1, on level 5. The journey to downtown Denver (30-45 minute trip) has a flat fare of USD55.57, while the meter is used for other destinations. Desks are located on level 5 and all agencies provide courtesy shuttle services to the pick-up area. They depart from island 4.

The airport has a bank, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, post office, VIP lounges, charging stations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access.

Food and Drinks- There is a great variety of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and fast food outlets throughout the enclosure. Burger King, Einstein Bros. Bagels and McDonald's are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free stores in Concourses A and B. There are also shops selling clothing and accessories, sweets, electronics, flowers, souvenirs, jewellery, newsagents, books, toys, cosmetics.
Baggage- The lost and found office is situated on level 5 (Tel +1 303 342 4062 / 800 247 2336). It operates Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 am and 7:30 pm and weekends from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Other Services- Pet hotel, prayer room, massage parlours, shoeshines, smoking lounge, spas, art exhibits, games areas, nursing rooms.

Garage - Two multi-storey facilities adjacent to the terminal, with covered and outdoor spaces. Valet parking service and short-term bays on level 4.
Economy - Two uncovered areas beyond the previous ones. A free shuttle transports passengers to the terminal every 10 minutes.
Pikes Peak & Mt. Elbert Shuttle Lots - Remote lots with complimentary shuttle service around the clock.
61st and Peña - Situated next to the line A train station, only with credit card.

 

There are transport companies that have accessible vehicles. Airlines can provide wheelchairs or electric carts for passenger transfer. There are also lifts, reserved parking spaces, relief areas for service animals, adapted telephones and restrooms.
