London Luton Airport, opened on July 16, 1938, is one of the most important regarding low-cost flights and serves the metropolitan area of the city. It operates with domestic destinations and international flights to locations in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East.

The airport is located 48 km (30 miles) to the north of London.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (24 hours a day), postbox, printers, charging stations, mobile phone service and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 4 hours. The Ibis hotel, situated nearby, has meeting rooms. The Aspire Lounge opens from 4:30 am to 9:00 pm and is located to the left of the security control; it offers a wide menu of food and drinks, Wi-Fi, workstations, private cabins, spa, showers, air conditioning, TV, newspapers and magazines (access with Priority Pass, Lounge Club, DragonPass or Diners Club membership, through online booking or by paying at the door - £25.99).

Food and Drinks- Bars, fast food outlets, coffee shops, restaurants and pizza stores. Costa, Food Village, Starbucks and The Great British Sausage Company, in the public area, open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shop in the Departures Hall, in addition to retailers selling accessories, books, newspapers and magazines, electronics, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, gifts.
Baggage- Luggage trolleys in the check-in area for £2.00. Secure wrapping in the check-in area. 24-hour left luggage service and lost and found office in the public area, next to the stairs to the Departures lounge (Tel +44 158 280 9174).
Other Services- Baby changing areas, prayer room, pharmacy, children's playground.

 

Bus - Stops are located in front of the terminal and tickets can be purchased at the travel center situated next to the Arrivals area. The A1 service from National Express (Tel +44 871 781 8181) runs 24 hours a day to downtown London, with stops at Golders Green, Finchley Road, St. John's Wood, Baker Street, Portman Square, Marble Arch and Victoria train and bus stations. The trip takes 1 hour and 35 minutes and the fare is £12.00. Bus A2 also goes to Paddington Station. Other routes include: 707 to Northampton, Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead, Heathrow (60 min.; £27.50) and Gatwick (2 hours and 30 min.; £20.00) airports; 737 to High Wycombe, Oxford and Stansted Airport (1 hour and 25 min.; £16.90); 777 to Coventry, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Hitchin, Stevenage and Stansted; 787 to Hitchin, Cambridge and Heathrow.
Bus 757 from Green Line (Tel +44 344 801 7261) travels to Victoria Station for £11.00, with stops at Brent Cross, Finchley Road, Baker Street and Marble Arch.
Route 99 from Stagecoach (Tel +44 122 343 3250) heads for Luton and Milton Keynes Station in 1 hour and 10 min., with a cost of £6.50.
The A service from Busway (Tel +44 158 254 7294) goes to Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Luton and Vauxhall in 25 min. (£4.20).
There are also local buses (Tel +44 871 200 2233) to Luton city centre, St. Albans, Milton Keynes, Stevenage, Hitchin, Leighton Buzzard, Harpenden and Dunstable.

Train - A shuttle runs between the airport and Luton Airport Parkway Station every 10 minutes between 5:00 am and 0:00 am (£2.10). Thameslink (Tel +44 345 026 4700) operates services every 20 min. to the stations at Blackfriars (45 min.; £14.70), City Thameslink, Farringdon, St. Pancras International, Brighton and Gatwick Airport (1 hour and 30 min.; £28.00).
East Midlands Trains (Tel +44 345 712 5678) provides transportation to Luton (5 min.; £2.50), Bedford and Sheffield Derby, in addition to Midlands and northern locations.

Taxi - Vehicles from Addison Lee (Tel +44 207 387 8888) next to the multi-storey car park. Travel time to the city centre is around 40 minutes.

Multi Storey Car Park - Covered spaces connected to the terminal through a bridge.
Priority Parking - Situated on level 2 of the previous sector, with access to the Departures level and valet parking service.
Short Term Car Park - Area located 4 minutes away from the terminal.
Mid Term Car Park - Situated over the airport access road, with shuttle services every 12 minutes, 24 hours a day. The first 15 min. have no charge. Free spaces for motorcycles.
Long Term Car Park - The lot is a 10 minutes bus ride from the main building. 2 hours of complimentary parking.

 

Revolving doors, accessible toilets and telephones, induction loops, a special waiting room and reserved parking spaces. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should notify their airline or travel agency about their needs prior to their arrival.
