Overnight at the airport
In case you have a very early morning flight or a connection flight with a long layover, the London Heathrow airport offers facilities that it makes possible to stay overnight without having to book for a hotel outside the airport grounds. All terminals remain open 24-hour and are connected to each other by buses.
Where to rest: In T5 there are comfortable places to rest. Indeed, opposite the Gate A8 there are sofas behind the disabled toilets, and close to Gates 12-13 there is a quiet area. Behind the Louis Vuitton store there are comfortable sofas as well. T2 is the one with the most armchairs but even late at night it is very bright at noisy, so it lacks privacy, therefore it is advisable to have an eye-mask and earplugs. In the public area of T3 security personnel usually take the overnight passengers to a certain area. And in the boarding area of T3 can be several VIP-style lounge chairs. In T4, the public area is usually more comfortable and quite to spend the night as the boarding area usually closes. There is a cafe open the 24 hours where passengers are allowed to stay if the buy something.
If you want to take a shower or be in a more private and comfortable area, all the terminals have VIP lounges (to get access you must pay or be a membership). The only problem is that most usually close from 10 pm to 5 am.
For an uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels in terminals 4 and 5 and several alternatives in the vicinity.
Baggage: all terminals have left-luggage services, although the hours are from 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM so if your flight leaves very early in the morning you should probably spend the night with your bags, unless the airline lets you do the check in many hours later.
Eating and drinking: in each terminal there is a 24-hour cafe.
Restrooms: available the 24 hours in all terminals although to use showers, theses are only available in VIP lounges
WI-FI: London Heathrow Airport has free and unlimited internet access and there are several connecting points in different areas of all terminals. There are also AC power plugs and sockets and usb ports for recharging the mobile devices and portátitles.
