Edinburgh Airport, opened on March, 1916, is one of the largest in Scotland and one of the busiest in the United Kingdom. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

The airport is located 13 km (8 miles) to the west of Edinburgh.

Bus - Lothian Buses (Tel +44 131 555 6363) operates the Airlink 100 service 24 hours a day between the airport and Waverley Bridge, with a frequency of 10 minutes, a trip of 30 min. and a fare of £4.50. Line 35 leaves every 15-30 min. headed for the city centre, RBS World Headquarters, Scottish Parliament, Palace of Holyroodhouse and Ocean Terminal. Journey time is approximately 1 hour and tickets have a cost of £1.60. Bus N22 travels between the enclosure and Ocean Terminal via South Gyle, from 0:45 am to 4:15 am, with a frequency of 30 min. The trip takes 28 min. and costs £3.00. On the other hand, the Jet 747 service from Stagecoach (Tel +44 138 366 0880) runs to Fife, stopping at the Ratho, South Queensferry and Ferrytoll stations, and then goes to Inverkeithing and Halbeath. The journey takes 25 min. and has a fare of £5.90 operating around the clock with frequencies of 30-60 min. Buses from Citylink (Tel +44 871 266 3333) travel to downtown Glasgow (1 hour trip; £11.60) every 30 min. from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm, stopping at Ratho, Newbridge East, Harthill and Maxim Park.

Tram - Services from Edinburgh Trams (Tel +44 131 555 6363) between the enclosure and the city centre, with stops at Ingliston, Gogarburn, Edinburgh Gateway, Gyle, Edinburgh Park, Bankhead, Saughton, Balgreen, Murrayfield, Haymarket, West End, Princes Street, St. Andrew Square and York Place. They operate every 7 minutes from 6:18 am to 10:48 pm, with a journey of 30 min. and a fare of £5.50.

Train - The closest stations are in Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Park, connected to the enclosure through trams. Trains depart from there to Fife, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Falkirk, Stirling, Dunblane and Northern and Central Scotland. At Waverley Station, in the city centre and linked through a bus service, you can board trains to Manchester, London, Birmingham, Leeds, and other destinations throughout Scotland and the United Kingdom. Taxi - Vehicles from City Cabs (Tel +44 131 656 0830) available on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park. Travel time to downtown Edinburgh is approximately 25 minutes.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, VIP lounges, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 2 hours. Meeting and conference rooms at the nearby Holiday Inn Express hotel.

Food and Drinks- Cafés, restaurants and bars scattered throughout the enclosure. Costa, in the International Arrivals Hall, opens 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free items in the Departures area. There are also stores selling accessories, clothing, electronics, sports, cosmetics, footwear, gifts, souvenirs, books, newsagents.
Baggage- Secure wrapping, left luggage service and lost and found office in the terminal annex, from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm (Tel +44 330 223 0893).
Other Services- Laundry, baby changing facilities, children's play areas, prayer room, first aid clinic, spa, art gallery.

Terminal Multi-storey - Facility with covered spaces adjacent to the terminal.
Mid Stay - Situated 8 minutes away from the enclosure.
Long Stay - Area with courtesy shuttle services. The first 10 min. have no charge.


Passengers requiring special assistance are advised to inform their airline or travel agency about their needs at least 48 hours in advance. Inside the enclosure there are designated spaces in all car parks, wheelchairs, ambulifts to board the plane, ramps, elevators, accessible telephones and restrooms, induction loops.
