Cardiff Airport, opened on April 7, 1942, is the largest in Wales and one of the busiest in the United Kingdom. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations within Europe, the Caribbean, Northern Africa and the Middle East.

The airport is located in Rhoose, 20 km (12 miles) southwest from Cardiff.

Bus - Express service T9 from Traws Cymru (Tel +44 300 200 2233) connects the enclosure with the city centre, the central train station and Cardiff Bay every 30 minutes, stopping at several major hotels. It operates from 5:00 am to 0:00 am (from 6:00 am on Sundays) and journey time is 40 min. Fares from £5.00.
Bus 905 from New Adventure Travel (Tel +44 292 044 2040) runs between Rhoose train station, the airport and St. Athan for £1.00, meeting all departing trains (Monday to Saturday between 5:45 am and 11:25 pm, Sunday from 8:45 am to 10:25 pm). The trip takes approximately 10 min.

Train - Services from Arriva Train Wales (Tel +44 333 321 1202) every hour from Monday to Saturday and every two hours on Sundays from Rhoose Station to Cardiff Central and Bridgend (30 minutes journey). A shuttle service (£1.00) transfers passengers to and from the airport terminal.

Taxi - FlightLink Wales (Tel +44 144 672 8500) offers private or shared transport to and from destinations in Southern Wales and some major airports throughout the United Kingdom, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester. The trip to downtown Cardiff takes 30 minutes.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (open during international flight hours), mailbox, mobile charging stations, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 2 hours. Inside the terminal there are also two meeting rooms. The Executive Lounge opens from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm and is located in the Departures area; it provides a bar, newspapers and magazines, Wi-Fi, telephones, fax, computers, TV, air conditioning (access with Priority Pass or DragonPass membership, through online booking or by paying at the door - £18.00).

Food and Drinks- Bar and coffee shops in the Departures Hall, in addition to cafés on the first floor and the Arrivals Hall.
Shopping- Duty-free items in the Departures area, newspapers, books, tobacco, sweets.

Several parking options open 24 hours a day are available at the airport. Directly outside the terminal there is also a passenger drop-off zone which is free for 10 minutes. Payment can be made at the exit from each lot or in the Arrivals Hall. More information: Tel +44 871 360 1100. Fees

Short Stay - Directly in front of the main building.
Long Stay 1 & 2 - A short distance away from the terminal, with free shuttle service. The first 20 min. in L1 have no charge.

 

Facilities include induction loops for the hearing-impaired, contrasting signage, adapted restrooms, reserved seating areas, designated spaces in all car parks, ramps, elevators, accessible telephones and an ambulift to board the plane.
