Birmingham Airport, opened on July 8, 1939, serves the metropolitan area of Birmingham and the West Midlands region. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean.

Bus - There are 5 services from Network West Midlands (Tel +44 345 303 6760) that access the airport: X1 - Birmingham, Deritend, South Yardley, Meriden, Coventry; 966 - Erdington, Buckland End, Elmdon Park, Solihull; 97/97A - Chelmsley Wood, Tile Cross, Stechford, Deritend, Birmingham center; 75/75A - Birmingham International Station, Birmingham Business Park, Coleshill, Water Orton, Curdworth, Minworth, Sutton Coldfield; 91 - Birmingham International Station, Marston Green, Tile Cross, Chelmsley Wood. Journey time to the city centre is around 25 minutes. Tickets for a day have a cost of £5.00 and can be acquired from the driver. There are also buses from National Express (Tel +44 871 781 8181) to different destinations in the country, including Birmingham, Oxford, Luton, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick. Megabus (Tel +44 871 266 3333) provides low-cost transportation (fares from £1.00) to several locations throughout the country. Oxford Bus Company (Tel +44 186 578 5400) provides luxury services from the airport to Oxford, with stops at Banbury and Warwick, from £4.00.

Train - The Air-Rail Link system is free and connects the enclosure with Birmingham International Station in 2 minutes from 3:30 am to 0:30 am (replaced by a courtesy bus at other times). Virgin Trains (Tel +44 344 556 5650) depart from there to New Street, in the city centre, with a trip of 12 minutes and a fare of £3.70, to London Euston (2 hours; £50.00) and Wolverhampton. Services from Cross Country (Tel +44 844 811 0124) run to Manchester Piccadilly, Bournemouth, Birmingham New Street, London Euston, Northampton and Coventry. Arriva Trains Wales (Tel +44 333 321 1202) provides transportation to Shrewsbury, Aberystwyth, Pwllheli, Machynlleth, Holyhead, Wrexham General and Chester.

Taxi - Cabs from Airport Ranks (Tel +44 792 827 9382) available 24 hours a day outside the Arrivals area. Travel time to downtown Birmingham is about 25 minutes.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post office, VIP lounges, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. Meeting and conference facilities at the Comet Building, adjacent to the terminal.

Food and Drinks- Throughout the terminal there are fast food outlets, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Costa, in the Arrivals area, opens 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Next to the baggage reclaim area and after the security control there are duty-free shops. There are also retailers selling accessories, cosmetics, apparel, souvenirs, electronics, jewellery, books. Convenience store on the ground floor.
Baggage- Trolleys available for £1.00 at the car parks and the luggage recollection halls. Secure wrapping, left luggage service and lost and found office in the check-in area, from 4:00 am to 8:00 pm (Tel +44 330 223 0893).
Other Services- Baby changing rooms, children's play areas, smoking lounge, prayer room, pharmacies, spa.
