Istanbul Sabiha airport (SAW) 

 

Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen International Airport, opened on January, 2001, was built to ease the excessive demand of Atatürk Airport. It operates with domestic and international flights to several main destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.

The airport is situated on the Asian side of the city, 12 km (7 miles) northeast from Pendik and 45 km (28 miles) to the east of downtown Istanbul.

Bus - There are regular services from IETT (Tel +90 212 372 2222). In front of the Arrivals level there are also shuttles from Havabus (Tel +90 212 444 2656) headed for Kadiköy (60 minutes journey) and Taksim (90 min.) that operate every 30 min. from 3:30 am to 1:00 am. Intermediate stops include Tem Baglanti Yolu, Yeni Sahra, Kavacik, Köprüsü, Levent, Zincirlikuyu and Dolapdere. Secure Drive (Tel +90 850 251 0806) offers minibus door-to-door services in the area of Istanbul, Gebze and Izmit, and between the city airports.

Taxi - Cabs from SAWKOOP (Tel +90 216 588 1235 / 552 552 4552) available around the clock outside the terminal. The trip to the city centre takes approximately 45 minutes.

The airport has banks, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post office, VIP lounges, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access for a fee. There is also a conference center on the Arrivals level with several meeting rooms.

Food and Drinks- Restaurants, coffee shops, fast food outlets and bars. Most options are found on the Departures level.
Shopping- Duty-free stores on both levels, gifts, handicrafts, apparel, jewellery, flowers, newsagents, tobacconists.
Baggage- Porters available at the terminal entrances. Secure luggage wrapping on the Departures level. Left luggage service in the International Arrivals Hall (Tel +90 216 588 8802). Lost and found office in the Domestic Departures area, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Tel +90 216 588 8686).
Other Services- First aid clinic, pharmacy, prayer rooms, hairdresser.
