Passenger guide - Istanbul Ataturk airport (IST) 

 

Istanbul Atatürk Airport, opened in 1924, is the largest in Turkey. It operates with domestic destinations and international flights around the world.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminal 1 (domestic flights) and Terminal 2 (international flights). Open 24 hours a day and connected through a walkway.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 60.1 million passengers went through it during 2016.

The airport is located on the European side of the city of Yesilköy, 28 km (17 miles) to the west of Istanbul.

Bus - Lines TH-1 and YH-1 from IETT (Tel +90 212 372 2222) leave every 30 minutes from the Arrivals level of both terminals to Taksim, in the city centre, and Yenikapi terminal, going through Sishane, Unkapani, Aksaray, Zeytinburnu, Bakirköy Seaside and Yesilyurt. They operate from 4:00 am to 1:00 am and journey time to downtown Istanbul is 40 min. Tickets can be acquired at booths located at the stops.

Metro - Line M1 from Metro Istanbul (Tel +90 212 568 9970) runs to Yenikapi every 6-10 minutes between 6:00 am and 0:00 am. The trip takes around 35 min. and intermediate stops include DTM Istanbul Fuar Merkezi, Yenibosna, Atakoy-Sirinevler, Bahcelievler, Bakirkoy-Incirli, Zeytinburnu (where you can make connections with the tram network), Merter, Davutpasa, Terazidere, Esenler Otogar (international bus station), Kocatepe, Sagmalcilar, Bayrampasa-Maltepe, Topkapi-Ulubatli, Emniyet-Fatih and Aksaray.

Taxi - Vehicles from Atatürk Airport Taxi (Tel +90 850 780 7734) available 24 hours a day outside both terminals. Travel time to the city centre is approximately 30 minutes.

The airport has banks, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post offices, VIP lounges, mobile phone services, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 2 hours. There is also a business center with two conference rooms.

Food and Drinks- Both terminals have coffee shops, confectioneries, restaurants and fast food outlets, many of them open around the clock.
Shopping- Duty-free items in Terminal 2, in addition to convenience stores on the subway level, florists, bookstores, newsagents and souvenir stands.
Baggage- Porters 24 hours a day in the baggage reclaim area and the Departures and Arrivals levels (Tel +90 212 463 3000 ext. 7418). 24-hour secure luggage wrapping in the Departures Halls (Tel +90 212 463 3000 ext. 4382 / 4392). Left luggage service in the Arrivals areas, available around the clock (Tel +90 212 463 7777 ext. 6650 / 6651). Lost and found office in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2, open 24 hours a day (Tel +90 212 444 9828).

The enclosure has tactile surfaces and proper signage, moving walkways, escalators, designated parking spaces, induction loops, adapted restrooms with automatic doors and lighting, especially designed seats, handrails, ramps, accessible public telephones and counters. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should inform their airline or travel agency about their needs prior to their arrival.
