Zurich airport (ZRH)

Zurich Airport, also known as Kloten Airport and opened on July 21, 1921, is the largest in the country and one of the busiest in Europe. It operates with international flights to numerous destinations around the globe.

The airport is located in Kloten, 10 km (6.25 miles) to the north of Zurich.

Bus - The airport station is located next to car park P2 and has direct access to the check-in area and the Airside Center. There are several services from VBG (Tel +41 448 095 600) to the main locations in the Glatt Valley, Zürcher Unterland and Zurich Oerlikon regions, with departures every 10 minutes to 1 hour. To get to the city centre you have to take line 768 to Oerlikon train station and then board bus 80. The entire trip takes approximately 60 min.
During the winter season there are services to the main ski stations in the Swiss Alps provided by Arlberg Express (Tel +43 558 2226), Davos Express (Tel +41 814 170 707), Flugbus (Tel +41 413 696 644) and Laax Airport Shuttle Service (Tel +41 819 277 777). Tickets can be acquired at the service center (parking P2, level 1) and the Arrivals Halls 1 and 2.

Train - There is a station from Swiss Federal Railways (Tel +41 900 300 300) under the terminal, with trains to the city centre and other destinations throughout Switzerland, such as Bern, St. Gallen, Lucerne, Basel, Lausanne and Geneva. The service to downtown Zurich leaves every 10 minutes between 5:30 am and 0:30 am and the trip takes 10 min. Tickets may be purchased at machines located in customs halls 1 and 2, at the travel center situated in check-in area 3, or at the airport's information desks.

Tram - Line 10 from Glattalbahn (Tel +41 448 095 600) leaves every 7-15 minutes to Zurich central station, with a journey time of 40 min., via Glattpark, Oerlikon and Irchel. It operates from 5:40 am to 11:39 pm. Line 12 runs to Glattbrugg, Wallisellen and Stettbach every 15 min., and offers several connections to destinations in the transport network.

Taxi - Ranks are found in front of Arrivals Halls 1 and 2. The official operators are 7x7 Fahrdienste (Tel +41 447 777 777), Airport Taxi (Tel +41 848 850 852) and Taxi 444 (Tel +41 444 444 444). Travel time to downtown Zurich is 20 minutes and the fare is €56.00.

The airport has banks (6:00 am to 10:00 pm), ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (24 hours a day), postboxes, VIP lounges, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 2 hours. The nearby Radisson Blu hotel provides spaces for conferences.

Food and Drinks- Throughout the terminal there are numerous food options, including restaurants, cafés, fast food outlets, pizza places and bars.
Shopping- Duty-free shops at the Airside Center and the Departures areas, accessories, gifts, books, newspapers and magazines, cosmetics, perfumes, confectionery, clothing, footwear, jewellery, electronics.
Baggage- Luggage trolleys with no charge. Secure luggage wrapping in check-in area 2, from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm. Porters available from 4:15 am to 10:30 pm (Tel +41 438 166 707). Lockers and luggage storage at car park P2, from 6:00 am to 10:30 pm (Tel +41 438 163 500). Lost and found office in Arrivals Hall 1 (Tel +41 900 571 015), from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm.

P1, P2, P3 - Multi-storey facilities connected directly with Check-in 1 and Arrivals 1, Check-in 2 and Arrivals 2, and Check-in 3, respectively.
P6 - Car park for stays of 3 days or more, 5 minutes away from the terminal through a covered walkway. There are bays for electric vehicles.
P60 - Outdoor lot for vehicles taller than 2 meters.


Inform your airline or travel agency about your needs at the time of your booking or at least 48 hours before your departure. There are designated spaces next to the elevators on the entrance level of the car parks. Pathways have tactile markers. There are also ramps, adapted restrooms and telephones. Children between 5 and 11 years old travelling alone will escorted from the check-in area until boarding the plane, supervised during the flight and assisted through the passport and customs controls.


Next to gates B/D, on level 1, is found the Transit Hotel (Tel +41 438 162 108), while the Radisson Blu Hotel Zurich Airport (Tel +41 448 004 040) is connected to the terminal through a covered walkway. In the surroundings there are more alternatives, some of them with free shuttle services to and from the airport.
